Q: Hi, I’m a little low on oil and reits and was thinking of vermillion or summit to add at this time. Vermillion because of a possible rebound and dividend, or Summit as it is in a nice uptread but may be soon done? I have been caught a few times buying high and watching it go south.
Would you have a clear idea which way to go or a better alternative? I don’t want to buy both because of limited funds

Q: I understand that Parex is in the middle of a strategic review, I just don't understand (a) why a sale of the company makes sense, and (b) why the stock price continues to fade. Doesn't Parex have one of the better business cases out there? Cash, Brent pricing, new wells - what's not to like?

Some months ago, on BNN, Dennis de Silva suggested that their assets are entering a declining phase - which would certainly make a prospective buyer think twice. But aren't most (all?) O&G companies constrained by the wasting-assets problem? Yet we continue to invest in them.

Q: I have not done very well with HNL recently. A few days ago it announced some new contracts or extensions. What is the impact of this news on future earnings? Will HNL profit from BC LNG projects? Is it a sell or a hold? Thank you.

Q: VNOM has gone down quite a bit in the last couple of months. I am up on the stock nicely - do you think it's a time to take profits? Where do you see it going in 2019?

Q: Hi Guys,

I sold WCP for the tax loss in October. Since then it has declined from $8 to $5. Any suggestions as to when to buy back, or would you suggest any other replacement, say VET?

Still hanging on to Teck at a big decline. Was concerned that they would bring on a partner for their copper mine in Peru. Any point in waiting longer or will a deal not be of any impact?

Q: Hello Peter,
What are your thoughts on GMP Capital? I have lost more than 50% on the stock since I bought it. The company does seem to be doing fine as it gives out special dividends and with recent takeovers of other related companies, I thought GMP would gain traction but it has not moved up much. Yangarra resources has lost lots of its value but mostly due to the sector issues. A few questions please:
i. Understanding that both companies are in different sectors, do you think Yangarra has higher chance of increasing in stock price then GMP
ii. Given our current policies on energy and pipelines, do you see the oil sector recovering anytime soon as i was thinking of putting monies in other companies like Tourmanline etc

Q: Hi Guys,
I submitted this question last week so not sure if it didn't go through or just got lost in the shuffle. The question is as follows: I am concerned about the oil and gas industry going into a prolonged down pricing environment. Can you rank these companies in terms of balance sheet strength and their ability to withstand a prolonged downturn? Can you also speak on if any of these would be in significant financial trouble (e.g. - bankruptcy) over a prolonged downturn?

Q: RE: Tax loss selling (registered accounts)
If I sell a stock at a loss in my RRIF or TFSA, do I still have to wait the 30 days to repurchase it in one of the above registered accounts ? For example I sold KEL, am I allowed to buy ZEO or another oil & gas company ? Thanks as always for your valuable advice !

I bought BBI at 47cents, I want to average down at current price 22 cents. please provide details cash flow, debt and earnings, is it worth holding and share price will appreciated in 3-5 years? could I have your expert opinions please. Q: my question is as follows, every analyst and pundit i follow says this market downturn will not end until we have a massive flushout day where sellers are exhausted on huge volume with the vix at 30 or so, this has not happened yet so why do you tell members to buy anything, why not just tell them to wait.furthermore going back until 1940 no downturn has ever ended without this flush out.
second question, and i asked this before your five favorites stocks for the next year, i think you had largo, gc, i get these 2 and you had covalon, i was surprised with covalon, do you know something we do not, also could you add 2 more if possible.
and last question oil is so beaten up it seems like it is the ultimate value play, no new capacity, opec might cut ,refineries coming out of maintenance, winter is upon us,so why so negative, i own bte and bir, based on the fact oiland gas has to go higher, and the stocks are priced like oil is 25 bucks.your opinion. take 3credits thanks dave
