Q: Re: IPl takeover. I already have a full position in Pembina ,and am ,at this point quite reluctant to trigger any capital gain. In looking at both offers, it seems that the Brookfield offer could be the best for me. Is there anything that I might be missing ? Thank you for your help.

Q: In my self directed margin account I have two calls:
1)50 calls of CPG C 21 JAN22, $3.00 that I paid .61c.
2)75 calls of CPG C 21 JAN 22, $4.00 that I paid .81c.
These calls don't expire till January and I have lots of room in my account to either cover them with margin, or sell another stock to cover, or sell the Calls outright. Of the choices listed, or something I am missing, is there any strategy to maximize my capital gains and/or minimize my taxes owing?
Thank you, Gord

Q: I have heard that one of the things that is a strong indicator a stock will outperform the market is the initiation of a dividend for the 1st time. I believe it may have been Peter who mentioned this on MarketCall. Parex announced Wednesday evening that they are initiating a dividend for the 1st time. I'm wondering what degree of outperformance you typically see from a company that begins paying a dividend, and how long does that outperformance typically last.
Q: I keep an occasional eye on Twin Butte (TBE), now delisted, bankrupt, and a bad memory. There continues to be occasional OTC trades in this company.
The last time I asked about it you thought that they could be the closing of short positions, or speculators hoping to derive some value.
On July 8 100,000 shares were traded at $0.003. $300 may not be much in stock trade terms, but it would buy a lot of beer and pizza.
Who would pay $300 for shares in this company? Is there some residual value that may be languishing?
Maybe I should trade my last shares for a couple of slices.

Q: Good Morning.
I have some shares in these US pipelines, as well as ENB.
With WMB being a limited partnership - what will the tax consequences be with CRA in relation to their dividend payments?
Thank you.

Q: What exactly is holding Surge back from participating in rising oil prices? You would think their debt load and hedges and perhaps just the entire oil industry being out of favour are so yesterdays news. Looking forward for Surge, do you still see a viable company?

Global X SuperDividend ETF (SDIV $25.97)
-
Vanguard International Dividend Appreciation ETF (VIGI $93.89)
Q: Few of my international holdings pay dividends and in trying to correct that, I thought of adding SDIV as a new holding. I have the following questions or concern:
1. Many companies held in the ETF are on not that large (for the type of internatinal business a Canadian might want to risk); and
2. SDIV also underweights quality and momentum.
Notwithstanding the above concerns, would you say the ETF is worth adding as part of one's holdings outside North America? Please comment on SDIV, but if you have other ETFs you prefer, kindly advise). Thanks
