Q: Greetings: I would like to know how many shares are "owned" (not the right word, I realize) for each company in the new Model Portfolio. I see the ACB but not the number of shares.

I like to set up the model portfolio in Yahoo Finance and see how it performs compared to mine. I have learned quite a lot by doing this, sadly the main thing being that I should have duplicated the Model Portfolio from day one and left it alone. Period. Thank you very much for stellar service. No rush for this.

Q: Telus and SLF have been components of the model portfolio for more than a year with no rating and I assume they would have to be at least a B- or better to join at all but I wonder if you could assign a provisional rating, perhaps subject to adjustment when full reports are done, so that members can get a better idea of just how keen you are on them. I note also that the Income Portfolio doesn't have a column for ratings, at least for April; would it be possible to add it and assign provisional ratings for the stocks not yet covered too? Q: Peter and crew:
At year end in your model portfolio, you made some adjustments to the equities held. As a new subscriber I was wondering if this ever occured during the course of the year (i.e. if you felt a company was no longer worth holding). If this was the case would you put out an updated report prior to the switch, or give your subscribers any sort of warning/justifications about upcoming changes to the portfolio.

Q: Hi Team..Can you tell me what the yield is on XFR (the Canadian alternative for FLOT) I do not have a U.S. account which leads me to my second question. Is it still a good idea (with the US $ being so high) to buy some US $ and put FLOT in a US account? I own CDZ and most of your income and growth portfolios but no bonds! Q: You have Superior (SPB) in the income portfolio, so you must think it is a pretty safe, conservative investment. What happened when the share price went from $30 in 2006 to $6 in 2011, and even all the convertible bonds were trading at 60. I thought the main problem was the debt. And what has changed so much in the past 2 years that it's moving in the right direction?

as long as the stock remains on your list. However because my capital is tied up in other stocks I could buy only the 9 rated
A or A-. Am I talking a risk by not diversifying to all 20?

Q: Peter and crew:

I really like the look of your model "income" portfolio, and am looking to largely mirrror it in a non registered account with a 10 year + time horizon. My concern is with the tax implications of XHY, CVD, CPD and ZRE in a non registered fund (higher tax than dividends). Would you be able to suggest three of four solid dividend companies (not included in your other portfolio) that may be used to replace these. I understand this would make the portfolio more aggressive, but am comfortasble with that due to bond exposure in registered funds.

Q: Hello Peter & Co.
I notice that your equity portfolio has no exposure to the energy sector except for ENB (pipeline) and no exposure to the pharma/health care sector; however, some 25% of your portfolio is in the technology sector.
What was your thought process to arrive at that?

Q: At present I own all of the stocks in your new model portfolio (not the income pfolio) and have some cash to employ to take advantage of market opportunities. With some of the stocks having declined significantly (CSU,STN,SYZ) would you add to one or more of these thinking that they are oversold; or would you add to the stocks with upward momentum (e.g.CSS,AYA,HCG, CCL) - or would you suggest doing nothing for the time being? Q: I have set up my wife's RRSP account after the model portfolio. Since the start of April the portfolio is down about 3%. When you get Dividends etc. should we wait until we get a larger amount before we buy. Also should we buy the stock that is losing the most or buy the one that is gaining the most.
