Q: Hello Team
I am 79 yrs old and in good health. I have 100k to invest. I do not need this for other than disaster insurance?
65% of money in a RRIF in cash and some BBD.B and CNR stock and 35% of the money is in a TFSA cash and some BNS stock.
Should I be looking to your Income portfolio or the model portfolio or a hybrid of the two as I could accept some risk here.
Thanks
Frank

Q: Good Morning Peter and Team,
I am slowly but surely moving toward the "Model Income Portfolio" in one account and toward the "Model Portfolio" in a separate account. Different objectives for each account. I have owned PEY since 2010 at about $13 in both accounts. Does it make sense to have PEY and SGY at 2.5% allocations each in my version of the Model Income Portfolio and PEY and WCP at 2.5% allocations each in my version of the Model Portfolio ??? That way I have exposure to half natural gas and half light oil for my energy weightings in each account. As an aside I read Darren Gee's President's Report every month and I strongly encourage other 5i subscribers to do the same. Peyto is one of the most shareholder friendly companies in the energy sector and extremely well run. I would appreciate your opinion of my proposed energy sector allocations. Thank you. DL

Q: I noticed you did not sell Contrans in the model portfolio at end Oct. If I understand this correctly now that Transforce has 70% it will buy those shares pending regulatory approval but it would need something like 90% to force remaining shareholders to sell. With this as a possible outcome would you continue to hold Contras as a minority shareholders in a Transforce controlled company? If not, sell at discount now or tender?
Thanks

Q: Hello,
How often is the Model Income Portfolio reassessed? Do you feel the stocks listed in the portfolio are still acceptable for entry positions?
Thank You

Q: Your equity portfolio has a heavy weighting to Tech stocks (CSU,MDA,ESL,DSG,SYA,AYA). Some of these have had big moves this year - I am looking to add some exposure for a long term hold - which of these offers best value now. Many thanks

Q: this is more of a general question.
I own BDI, WSP, MCB & SJ all down significantly and all losses YTD for me except SJ. I expect that the carnage is over but are they all dead money for some time to come (although the dividend yield has by default improved) and a switch into something else within your two portfolios provide a better return.
Of the 4, which does the team expect the best risk/reward return over the next 12 months and within the 2 portfolios which stocks would you replace them with to be in a better position in 12 months?
On the other hand, if these are strong well managed companies, is it best to wait for an improved Global economy which should lift them back.
thanks so much!

Q: Do you think Surge Energy is worth holding at current levels given the risk of a dividend cut? I understand their hedging program but as investors continue to panic sell the yield has become noticeably high...knowing the company the way you do, what is your best advice. Much thanks as always, Curtis

Q: Peter; Coulld you comment on SGY's " sustainability" report of today. Mr.Colborne obviously watches BNN and is ready to defend his company. Thanks. Rod

Q: I am looking at purchasing 2000 shares of Surge Energy. This will be the one energy company in my portfolio. It will be 7% of the total investible assets. I am looking at holding for 2 years or longer. I like the dividend. I see the company released information about the low oil prices this evening, and their thoughts on this and how it will effect their investments in the future, and the safety of their dividend. What are your thoughts. New member yesterday and I am greatly impressed with your comments on Market Call yesterday. A great website.
Thank you
