Q: Hi Peter and Team - Could you provide me with an update on D-Box Technologies including the following: level of debt, cash on hand(is it still $13 million), quality of product, opinion of management, insider ownership. TD Waterhouse shows the number of shares at 175 million. Is this a reasonable number or do you think it is somewhat diluted and what is their history of issuing shares. Also could you comment on any major shareholders holding more than 10% - I think there are at least two. DBO appears to have good potential for growth but what would be the major downside possibility(s). Thanks as always for your excellent service.

Q: I am in my early 30's and wanting to start a TFSA growth portfolio (modeling 5i growth portfolio). I am looking to invest 10,000 today, and 10,000 subsequent years. What names would you suggest to start with today?
Q: In view of the effect on the market of the unknowns coming up in the next few months - with US election and its aftermath, and good possibility of US bankrate going up in Dec. I am thinking of going defensive. I have quite a few of the stocks listed in both your Balanced and Income portfolios, could you please list for me which of these stocks you would designate as best 'defensive' - (whatever that means). Thanks again, always look forward to hearing your comments.
Q: Hi : what is your opinion now that shareholders approved the split in two, Element Fleet and ECN Capital. The shareholders also approved the issue of ECN shares to buy Infor. how do you see the future of these companies. I own EFN and will receive shares of both. Should I keep both ?, sell one, if so which one, or should I sell both ?
thanks !!
thanks !!
Q: Hi good people,
ATD.B has dipped recently, maing me think this may be a good entry point.
But what is the status of the governance issue (sunset of the super voting shares)? Can this issue hurt the stock in the future?
Thx,
Mike

Q: Recent additions to the 5i portfolios have entered at about 3% weightings, in spite of healthy cash positions in BE and Growth; is this a change in philosophy from the customary 5% or is it your intention to normalize the weights at a more favourable entry point?
I would use the "My Watchlist" feature more if it had View/Edit/Delete functions as there may be some names I do not want to be alerted on forever, only temporarily.

Q: this is a comment not a question, I just read your response on nfi about it's share price drop. last nite i received a notice from td that nfi is issuing a prospectus secondary offering on a bought deal basis at $40.40 expecting to close sept 27. I assume these will be the shares from the said seller. why kick investors in the teeth to the tune of 5% when the stock has been averaging higher prices.
Q: If we hold IT shares in a regular discount broker with a canadian big six bank, will our shares automatically convert to the exchangeable shares if we don't do anything? Thanks.
Q: NFI fell very substantially this morning. We have well over 100% profit in our joint portfolio, and even more in our TFSAs. Hold on, or time to trim? - Ted
Q: Hello 5i
I am looking for your opinion on my selling Whitecap to realize a capital loss and replacing it with Raging River. Or might you have a better suggestion?
Thanks Les

Q: You responded to a query about IT recommending taking the exchangeable shares. Could you please explain why and are you still positive about the company? Thanx for the great service.
Q: Hi, Can you please comment on Marco Polo sale of 4.5 mln shares on a privately arranged bought deal. (Any idea of the price?) I understand that they still will own 6.5 mln shares. This is the 1st and largest shareholder deciding to monetize a sizable portion of their holding on the heels of the company's 2nd largest private equity shareholder slowly and contantly offloading large blocks of their shares over past 6-9 months. Is there a theme here? New Jersey issue is still an overhang. What are your thoughts ? Thanks
Q: I wish to sell EFN to raise some cash over the next month. In your opinion is it best to do this before the split in early Oct. or to wait until after the split and see if the stock get a bounce post split.
Thank you for your advice

Q: I submitted this question last Thursday and received the auto response that my question had been submitted but since I haven't received a response I will try again.
My question relate to the income portfolio. We own many stock from the 3 portfolios but now that we are about to retire, we are trying to mimic the income portfolio. I understand that if one already owned ET, SPB, VNR, and DH that we should stick with them however, if one was constructing an income portfolio today can you suggest substitutes for these names? Also, given the dividend that ZCL pays, would it be suitable for an income portfolio?
Thank you.
Maggie
