Q: When using the above methodology (BTSX), by definition, sector balancing is uncontrolled. Given that, and the undisputed performance of the methodology, can a long term buy and hold investor commit to using this method for the bulk (say 75%) of his equity portfolio and feel confident of the portfolio's stability relative to the TSX index?

Q: Hello 5i
My wife has taken advantage of a company matching stock purchase plan for the last 10 years. It has grown to represent about 30% of our combined retirement accounts. I'd like to move half of it into the balanced portfolio for better diversification. I also really like Shopify Open Text and CRH medical. Would you substitute current B.E. holdings to fit these three in or simply add them. My thoughts are to eliminate Enghouse and Sylogist but am curious to hear your thoughts.
Thank you for your invaluable advice!!!

Q: Dear 5i,
I reviewed the Intrinsyc technology website to gain a better understanding of their products. ITC has a lot of innovative products/ideas with many future applications. I don't have a lot of knowedge in this area. What is there competitive advantage? Who are their main competitors? I assume there are many major tech companies developing similar products. ITC has a tiny market cap creating more risk/growth. What makes them a better company?
Thank you,
Kerri

Q: Do you see Enghouse or Open Text as having more potential?
Thank you
Thank you
Q: Prometic: you are probably up to speed on this one by now but do not see anything on the Q&A section. But California Capital Equity picked up 44M shares ... warrants at 0.47 cents. Dumb questions looking at the drop in price today (-7%). I am assuming this is not looked upon favourably?
Q: Regarding PLI's drop, if there is no apparent reason, does it indicate that the stock is being manipulated in some way? Does a halt like this with no apparent reason for the drop concern 5i as it is one of your "holdings"?
Q: Your opinion regarding the recent q4 report. Many thanks.
Q: In replying to Jim regarding PLI being halted you mentioned that the company had issued a press release indicating there were no material events to account for the drop. The last press release listed on PLI's website is dated Feb 6. Neither the website of TSX nor IIROC mention PLI's press release. Where did you see it? Is it available to the general public? If so can you tell me where?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: KXS is enjoying a good run of late.. Wondering how you feel about it for a 5 - 7 year hold?
Q: I allocate ~5% of my portfolio to speculative holdings. I consider APH, a marijuana stock, to fall under this category and currently hold this. I'm looking to add PHO to this category, as it sounds like a riskier growth stock. In your opinion, would adding a 2% allocation be sensible or would you advocate purchasing more of a full position to reap the full rewards? Would you ever advocate buying 2% positions?
Q: Trading was halted. Know of any reason? Jim
Q: I am wondering what your thoughts are on the year end results for SLF? Price momentum seems to favour MFC these days. Would you prefer the latter for new money?
Many thanks
Mike

Q: Hi 5i - would you sell EFN and replace it with CXI? Which company looks better long term?
Thanks, Neil
Thanks, Neil
Q: Hi - have owned ENGH for a number of years and now see it as a bit of an anchor ( not in a good way). Watching SHOP crushing it and now need to hear your
analysis on a switch for a Growth account that is well diversified. thanks

Q: The good news: I bought Shopify in August '16 @ $51.
The bad news: Didn't buy enough!
The question: With the stock at $79.31 and the RSI at 87 (gasp)is adding more at this point just a bit crazy? What I am really doing is holding your feet to the fire on the notion of buying stocks that are running i.e. where is the break point when valuations and emotions are running too high and it's prudent to step back?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Q: I bought TOY mid-November and it has been on a steady decline since. I do understand the "issues" with the hatchimals but would have figured it to at least steady itself or even start to bounce back. Should i consider taking my lumps and sell at this point?

Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (PBH $101.21)

Shopify Inc. Class A Subordinate Voting Shares (SHOP $233.00)
Q: I planned on taking a full position in PBH this week but have been contemplating switching to SHOP with its growth potential. Disregarding sector allocation which of the two would you buy today if you could only buy one?
Q: Hello, I took a 1/2 position in TOY back in November at the peak, and I am currently down 20%. I was wondering if you felt that for a 3 year hold, if I take another 1/2 position that this would make sense at this time?
Q: Do you think Intrinsyc may benefit from small cap institutional buying, analyst coverage given the money made from recent small cap tech takeovers of RDM and TIO this week and while the stock is still inexpensive?
Q: Hello, I had purchased 1/2 position in DBO at $0.50. After the current quarterly result and weakness in stock price, do you recommend to hold or buy a full position.
