Q: Some information I learned from my broker last Friday while asking them about the status of the exchangeable shares: (A) the process has multiple steps and the shares had just been "released". If I understood correctly, this is the last step of the process (B) Broker says many shareholders called Wednesday/Thursday/Friday to cancel the tender, finding the process confusing.

Q: I have been told that many small businesses actually sell through Amazon. T2 just opened a facility for Amazon in Ont. SHOP is opening one in Waterloo I believe. My question is; how is SHOP different from Amazon? Amazon is a heavyweight What edge or advantages does SHOP ? Am I missing some concepts ?

Thank You for you always good advice

Q: Hi, Parkland Fuel stock tumbled at the open on Friday and closed 4.4% lower. I own it from before and was happy to add to my position on this drop. PKI has been in your portfolios for a while and was also a Top Pick recently. Is there something in the quarterly results which needs to be worried about ? After the CST brands acquisition, stock has just gone straight up and Friday was the first serious correction. Would appreciate your thoughts.

Q: This is not a question but a comment. I held IT in two accounts with RBC Direct Investing. I had tendered the shares but I forgot about it. So unthinking I sold them some time ago at about $10 after they had been tendered. And they went. But on reading the members comments today, I called my broker who thanked me as he could now straighten out their records by cancelling the tenders.

This was a somewhat different experience than was was experienced by some members with TD accounts. I hope this is of interest.

Q: What is the risk / reward currently for BOS. Looking at the charts the share price has and continues to drop. BUT ... at today's price is looking very oversold using the RSI and Williams % as indicators. If you owned this (as I do and am sitting on a large loss and buying into your thesis that the company will do better over time), would you add now? It is a small %age of my portfolio.

Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter and Team - Your response to today's question on the Exchangeable shares has really helped to clarify the situation. I too have opted for the exchangeable shares and would like to convert back to the regular ones in order to sell but TD Waterhouse was very doubtful that I could do this. Before I pursue this further do you know when the deal for exchangeable shares will close. Also do you think there is a chance the shares in Intertain or the new company will go to zero. Are the fundamentals still reasonably sound and particularly is the debt load manageable. Thanks.

Q: As suggested, I tendered my shares for the exchangeable shares through my discount broker.

I have been wanting to sell the shares before they go to zero and have not been able to do so.

It is too late to cancel my conversion request and when I called Kingsdale they said the shares won't be at the brokers for another 7 to 10 days and I'm therefore in limbo.

I don't even think I can short sell my shares and cover with the exchangeable as they are different shares. Putting yourselves in this situation, any thoughts on how to liquidate the shares, or am I stuck?

Thanks

Sheldon

Q: A Donald Trump victory on Tuesday is now no longer a hail mary based on recent polls and commentary (and regardless as to Canadians imploring Americans to not vote for Trump). It is truly scary for so many reasons. How would you hedge the balanced portfolio against what is likely to be a general market meltdown if Trump wins? And just a clarification on the balanced portfolio to end of October - have absolute returns been 19.6% to date (or vs. benchmark) and 125.9% cumulative since December 2014?

Q: I noticed that ZCL price fell from 11.50 to 11 late yesterday afternoon on a large trade volume just a couple of hours before the quarterly report was released. Seems a bit fishy. Is it possible that there was some "leakage" of information. Is this something that securities commission would look into, or is it just too small for them to bother?
It is now down some more to 10.75.
On a related matter, what is your opinion of the quarterly results and the resultant drop in share price - is it overblown? Is it a buying opportunity?
