Q: Good morning Peter, I purchased PUR in early August based on your company report and have watched it steadily decline 21% since. I know you continue to recommend this as a growth stock with risk, while stressing the need for a long term hold. It seems I've got the risk side covered, so my question is whether you have changed your position about the growth potential. I can wait on this stock and will hang in there if warranted. What are your thoughts? As always, I appreciate your invaluable advice.

Q: Merry Christmas to all at 5I and thanks you for a very productive year, My question involves BEP.un as I am looking to add it to my portfolio on a pullback. I already own ALA and it is at 2.5% of my portfolio. The rest of my portfolio is as close to the Balanced Portfolio as I can get. Could I have your thoughts on this acquisition.

Q: Not a question but a comment. I'm glad to see you are covering CRH Medical now. I had thought about asking the question a while ago, "why shouldn't I own CRH" to get the sell side argument in case I was missing something. But it sounds like you are agreeing that CRH has a bright future. Great growth, mgmt, and their expansion from the Gastro side to anesthesia services was very smart. I find them to be one of the better run companies in my portfolio, so far.

Q: Would appreciate your take on the Tech Sector for 2017. Which of the above do you favour for growth with the most solid fundamentals? Or is there another one you would prefer? Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Q: Hi there, thank you for a great year of service! In the new year I will be rebalancing my portfolio, shifting positions to 4% in each of the Balanced Equity names. This will leave me with 8% left in cash and room for 2 names to make a 25 name portfolio. Which 2 names would you add for balance and growth? I am in my early 30's and have a long term outlook. Thanks again!

Q: Hi Team,
You've just added CRH to your growth portfolio. I've been tracking it for a while based on your coverage and a friend's position in it. Can you please comment on its risk level? My thought is to possibly move out of Gilead Sciences (GILD) in the US and into CRH. But I am concerned about its valuation after a great year, especially when compared to GILD which has had a very bad year (and may now represent a value opportunity or dead money). I also own Knight (GUD) and iShares Biotech (IBB). Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you. Michael

Q: Hi,
If my calculations are correct and the projected forecast on earnings is also correct this stock should be in the $55 to $60 range at this time next year. If not higher. I understand that any stock can reverse course at any time! So my assumption is based on numbers and past performance of management. The stock looks like it has solidified at around $39.00 the past few weeks from a high of $44 and change. I believe the drop was end of year profit taking and portfolio management. What are your thoughts on this. Thanks.

Q: A couple of years ago I transferred 25% of my sdrsp into a sdrif so I could set up the basic structure and start adjusting to appropriate holdings to produce a revenue stream and a bit of growth. I will transfer the remainder of the RSP in 3 years. I have gradually been selling stocks that do not seem to fit and have been moving the proceeds into some of the 5i income portfolio. I currently hold 9 of them, as follows :
ABT, BCE, BEP.UN, BNS, ENB, ET, FSZ, XHY, WSP

I have some cash available and would appreciate your suggestions for which 3 or 4 of the remaining ( ADW.A, AGU, AW.UN, CPD, CVD, ECI, L, SPB VNR, ZRE) you would suggest I acquire. Also, given possible year end/new year movement and events, could you shine up your crystal ball and give any comments on what timing might be best for those acquisitions?
Please note: I hold IPL (6%) as well as ENB (8%)– would you recommend IPL be changed to VNR ?

(I also have a fully funded TFSA with a growth tilt and a non-registered account with a dividend/growth tilt and OAS/CPP gvt pension).
As always, THANK YOU to Peter and the 5i Team for being there ... May your Christmas' be Merry and Bright !

Q: I am a long time holder of Inter Pipeline (IPL). I have a diversified portfolio that includes nearly all of the holdings in the BE model portfolio. When Enbridge was added to the model portfolio, I took a pass and figured I would just stick with IPL. Although IPL's share price has generally lagged ENB, as of late it has been outperforming and I am wondering if now would be a good time to switch. I know that ENB is much larger, but IPL does pay a higher dividend. Without any tax implications do you think a switch from IPL to ENB makes sense for a 5-10 year timeframe?

Q: I looked at their financials and some things did not make sense: high intangible asset amount, negative ROE yet have a good cash position and high advance from customers I guess that gets amortized over the year? No debt which is great - so, to me this picture is a little confusing? Their product is security software which I would think, is a good place to be - who are their customers? Thinking of buying in my TFSA -what do you think?
