Q: Please comment on the dividend. My online broker reports 8% yield, you report 3.5%. I guess the broker is including a special dividend. If possible, please share the regular and special dividends of the past 3 years, and share your view on the future dividend prospects. Thanks for your invaluable service. Frank
Q: Hello Peter and team,
My portfolio now closely mirrors the BE Portfolio only missing NFI. I have cash for two full positions.
XTC’s valuation seems interesting and it has gained traction recently. Would it be time to initiate a position or wait and see how the NAFTA negotiations evolve?
Thank you, Ronald

Q: What do you anticipate as a return on the balanced equity portfolio for 2018? Reason I ask is that I still have a mortgage so I need to decide if after tax returns from my unregistered investments would be better used paying down my mortgage. As it is time to do end of year tax planning and planning for next year I need to decide what I do with my cash...Put it in equities or pay some of the principal on the mortgage. My current rate is 2.79% so not a very high bar even after taxes.
Q: Sell this bum or take CIBC's advice. Buy on weakness because the thesis remains intact.

Q: The acquisition announced yesterday is very accretive addition to ECN's business. A purchase price of only $100M US adds 22% to net income. ECN raised $2.7B US from asset sales earlier this year, so the war chest is full. Am I missing something (debt paid down from the the $2.7B?) or is this a company on the verge of much bigger things?

Q: Hello Peter and Team,
The article;Filling in Portfolio Gaps for a Canadian Fund Investor by Ryan Modesto makes the point that passive investing in the TSX 60 ETF is not proper diversification.
The 5i Balanced Equity Portfolio is actively managed with a strategy to offer a balanced diversified approach to sector, style, market capitalization and does not aim to mirror a broad index (BE Portfolio holds 15.62% in technologies and 2.41% in healthcare).
1. An investor with risk tolerance comfortable for the BE and a time frame of over 10 years would it be advisable to add two or three positions like ZQQ (US Technology sector exposure), ZUH (US Healthcare sector) and or ROBO (robotics and artificial intelligence)?
2. Would you consider these ETF not in line with the BE strategy and would create over diversification and or not to be in risk tolerance of the BE portfolio?
Thank for the great no conflict service that you provide, Ronald

Q: Hello 5i. I have a sizeable gain in this company and wondering if I should take some profits or keep accumulating it. (as you say averaging up is a good thing!)The investment thesis still seems sound but can I get your assessment on pbh. What is it's projected annual growth rate for the next few yrs? debt load? What valuation do you give it? Are there any red flags?
thanks!
thanks!
Q: Hello Peter & Ryan,
