Q: Hi Peter/Ryan,

I am currently invested in various etfs under my wife and my registered accounts.
1) I would like to make BE portfolio as my core portfolio with about 20 stocks in it. Which stocks should I exclude and also please recommend 5 to 10 stocks from the Income portfolio
2) Should I split the portfolio holdings between my wife and my registered accounts to reduce the transaction costs or it is a good strategy to keep the same holdings as a separate portfolio in our accounts. We have an investment timeframe of 15+ years.

Thanks

Q: Today Gsy had a press release that indicated it was going to issue more unsecured debt for corporate purposes..
It also released a hint of what its earnings release on August 7 will contain.
Positive numbers.
The stock moved up 2 dollars
Question: is it common for a company to issue a " hint" of its earnings almost a month prior to the official release .i have only seen this before when a company was under a short attack

Q: A recent BNN interview appeared to suggest that ecn had or was becoming a facilitator of finance rather than engaging in direct exposure to the finance obligations, collecting fees for arranging the engagement, and the TD notes on this Co indicate that it is becoming an originator and asset manager, which to me seems to indicate a similar strategy. Would this not make ecn more economically sensitive to the sectors it participated in and less affected by the passage of interest rates and how would this affect your appraisal of ECN?

Q: If you could pick two stocks that have the greatest risk/reward to load up on what would they be? Sector and portfolio holdings can be ignored in this case.

Q: The Debt to Capital ratios on DOL and BRP are 108.94% and 152.63% respectively ( source TD Webroker). Are their ratios for real? If so, what would happen to the stock price when a recessive events (i.e. cash flow stalls, fast interest rate rise or other) occurs?

Q: My questions are related ECN:
1) what will be the catalyst to get this stock to move higher;
2) what is the impact of higher interest rates and why;
3) what is the impact of a lower Canadian dollar and why;
4) I have a half position, is this a good time to increase my position?
Thank you.
