Q: As a follow up to my earlier question about GSY. I see their Free Cash Flows are highly variable over the past few years and were negative (-228 million) in 2018. With negative cash flows, how do they cover their dividend, and what is they payout ratio?

With the takeover of GS, I'm looking for a new name in the world of Canadian Finance. I can't find a company that pays the great divy (with special) that GS did, so I'm looking for some growth. With the recent pullback of GSY, would you support moving my cash into GSY as a within-sector replacement?

When did GSY last raise their divvy and did they give a reason why?

Q: GSY seems to be having a few bad days. With so much recent good news ,dividend rising, by 38% and increasing the number of share buybacks to 8%, this falloff seems surprising. Am I missing something here?

Q: this is a comment on questions about CDN companies and US dividends:
At NBDB I transferred Magna shares from CDN RRSP to US RRSP. The shares were journaled from MG to MGA. I get US dividends. No exchange fees. Dividend exactly what it is suppose to be.
Question to 5i: any possible downside of holding US shares instead of CDN shares?

Q: Bought a year ago at $55.00 and now down quite a bit. I own 1000 shs and was thinking of adding another 1000 shs - just > dividend substantially & plenty of contracts. At 2000 SHS would be a very small % of total portfolio.

Q: I own 6800 shares of Knight at an average cost of $8.10. This amounts to about 2% of my portfolio. I could sell it all, sell half or do nothing. What do you see for Knight in the next 5 years. Should I be looking elsewhere? Thank You.

NFI always makes this type of announcements and that seldom move the share price, but this one seem to have a positive effect on it today. Especially the announcement was made after closing, interesting. Your take? Thanks.

Q: It seems to be a serious dispute with M&G nominations of 4 directors and Methanex’s negtaive response to this. The share price is dropping. Would you still hold stock if you are under water already.

Q: Gambling is now legal in 8 US states and the trend is for additional states to legalize gambling. According to John Affleck, a sport journalism professor at Penn State, during March Madness, 47 million adults in the US will wager $8.5 billion, including 4.7 million adults for the first time. Much of this betting will be on mobile apps. Is Stars Group a player in this market and if so, how big a player?
How well are they positioned for future growth in the US market?
Also, does Stars have a robust mobile app or is the majority of it's businesses conducted on desk top computers?

after trading over $71/share in February, the stock is down more or less 10% since their earnings release. I thought they had a good quarter and I was happy with another dividend increase.
In your opinion, what may be factors explaining this downtrend? Is this more related to the sector rather than company specific?
Also, I don't have a full position in the stock. Would this be an opportunity to increase my position or given the price action, is it better to wait and see where things settle? To be honest, I see the market telling me to stay away for now.

Q: Hello,
I have held FSZ for a few years now (small position of less around 1%). The share price has not moved basically since mid-2013. I am very happy with the dividend (another increase this quarter) and it appears to me they are a well managed company.

I know they operate in a sector that is not favorable but are there any catalysts on the horizon that might be a positive for the share price in the mid to long term or should one simply hold this for the income?

Would National Bank eventually buy this out (I know this is speculation but had to ask)?

And, what would be a good target % to hold in a well diversified income portfolio inside an RRSP for the average investor? I have full positions in BNS and SLF.

Q: you'd just respond to martin on benchmark of income portfolio is XTR.
My sense is that not a good benchmark with more than 45% of fixed income product (xfr, xhb) plus 4% HY and 4% pref (reflecting well your investment in cpd and xhy). Please comments

I see Onex has submitted a bid to purchase Gluskin Sheff for $14.25 per share.
Are you able to tell me if shareholders will still get their dividend next 1/4, or is it up in the air until they either declare it, and is there much of a chance at a special dividend coming this up coming 1/4.

Five years seems to be an awfully long time for compost to ferment, in my mind. I'm an organic gardener, so no disrespect intended here. ; )

Your thoughts, please, on his silly analogy. This slow-burning genius seems to be fizzling out, like a dud firecracker. Surely investors deserve a little something for being so patient -- maybe even a little respect.
