Q: Reading Tom's question on Sept 23rd and your response to read the cost of waiting versus lump sum investing article was quite informative. I try to follow your income portfolio and notice a double digit cash position for well over a year as I also have. I assume your reasons have to do with the frothy market and bear market mentality. As a retired couple living on dividends we are very tempted to not keep waiting for the BIG downfall and put our 12% cash in a reasonable safe etf with low volatility as outlined in the article. Your 5i bal may be too risky, but more like VCIP or XHD or please give us safer alternatives. Even XBB, CBD. would improve on loosing cash to inflation.
Thanks in advance.
Q: At what point do you sell the stock or double up on your share count. The ‘fundamentals haven’t changed’,only peoples perception on its stock price has changed and I have a 5 year hold. I have contemplated waiting for another sharp drop and buy additional shares - like double my present position. OR I thought that if the stock hit the 200 day moving average I would sell. FYI - I bought the stock at $40 ish and sold at $80 ish. Bought again at $100 ish and sold at $150 ish. Finally I bought it again at $180 ish and still own the stock. Like all of us I have owned stocks that went up and down dramatically only to hold on to long, ie Valient.
Down, down, down. I realize this was (is) overvalued and a growth play and there is sector rotation out of growth stocks. Where might you expect this to bottom out at?

Q: Hi Gang, thanks to 5i I have a nice problem as I got into the above at 60$ CDN (200 shares) but are now very overweight in my portfolio and was thinking of selling 50 shares but have no clue what’s the real valuation of the company is and where it’s going from here, do you have any insight to what the next earnings will bring us in October. Thanks Anthony
Q: i have this stock at a 8% loss and only 2.3% of portfolio would you recommending bring it to the 5% range. I am a dividend investor and long term holder. It would bring my financials up to 10.5% for two holdings in a 20 stock portfolio
Q: Morning guys:
This name has been a roller coaster ride since I got into this . My average cost is 37 and change. I also own great Canadian gaming and I’m down a lot as well . Are u guys confident that throughout the volatility of both names I will be rewarded in five years time just sitting tight and dollar cost averaging into both names .
Thank u
Mark
Q: Hello Peter, I called in BNN market call but could not ask the question. Good show.
Question is about adding new money on a regular basis. What do you suggest adding to - positions that are lagging ( and thus are at the lower weight now - some listed above) or picking ones with most attractive outlook (from fundamental perspective).
Can you please suggest top 2-3 names in each portfolio at this time.
Thanks
Q: Hi team
despite the low interest rate which is negative to the life Co; SLF has reached 52 weeks high, very strong technical
what would you think is the fundamental reasons for the 52 weeks high (outside technical) ? is it prudent to take some profits
in case there is a pull back ?
Q: Hello, I sold Descartes DSG quite a while back when you indicated that it was very expensive (and kept Enghouse ENGH), now that you have added DSG to the portfolio I'm wondering if I should sell ENGH and buy DSG back. Or are they 6 of one and half a dozen of the other going forward. In balancing my portfolio I trimmed some CSU because it was up around 17%, so now I do not want to invest in a much lesser quality technology company with the proceeds. Second somewhat related part to this question: I once owned QST, MCR, and BAD and sold them also quite a while ago. Now that you have renewed interest in them and added them to the portfolios I'm feeling a bit reluctant to add them back, I guess because I once sold them. Obviously you have renewed confidence in them. And I'm trying to keep to my principle of following the portfolios. Can you help me regain confidence in these three names. Thanks for great service, as always.
