Q: comments on the quarter please?

Q: You currently have > 9% cash in the Income portfolio. In the past you have indicated you prefer to be mostly invested. If my memory is correct, your responses to past questions have referenced the Income portfolio being up x% so far this year (now 13%) vs the targeted 6-8%/year, so you are taking your time to find appropriate investments. Respectfully, I would counter with the multiyear performance #s of 2-5%/year (quite a bit below the 6-8% target), so wouldn't you want the cash to be put to work? I know you just added a new 3% position on Oct 8.

So, I am trying to understand...is the 9% cash level is more of a "strategic" allocation (waiting for a pullback...market timing, which I know you don't believe in), are you still undergoing research for the right investment or is there some other reason?

Please note I am not criticizing. I have loads of respect for the 5iR team and have way more confidence managing my own portfolio knowing 5iR is there to provide guidance. I am just trying to understand the purpose for the cash in the Income portfolio. I too have roughly 7% cash and am struggling to find the "right" investment and put it to work.

Q: We have been warned that this could happen. Still, I am sure that many of us are concerned on the “three black crows “ and the “triple breakdown” that we are seeing . CSU has plummeted $100.00 / sh this week .

Even for those of us that trim , this has been a big hit. Based on your experience , should we expect the price to continue its descent , or should we be expecting some re-tracement at this point.

I have done well with Constellation software, having trimmed it a few time back to 5% of my portfolio.
It is now at 5% and I am wondering if the "easy money" has been made in this stock. I am considerably overweight in technology and considering selling half (2.5 %) of My CSU holding
and letting the remainder ride;
My other tech holdings are GOOG AAPL KXS LSPD SHOP

Q: Hi, Quarterly results missed all estimates for the second quarter in a row. The stock was added to Balanced Portfolio, 6-8 weeks ago at $39.90, with the thesis that it was just one bad quarter and it was time to start a position. Your advice has been to stay course as strong growth is expected over next 2 years, even after today's earnings release. Apparently, market does not agree. What influenced your decision to add this stock to the 5i Portfolio and do you still support it despite its dismal performance and 30% loss in value in just one day. Thank you

Q: How did you find the earnings?
Also did they make a mistake by saying their guidance for adjusted EBITDA of $5.1M were ahead of their guidance of $5.5M-$6.0M?

Q: hi folks, opinion on Q3 results for Photon Control; seemed to be beat with upbeat guidance. Did U have chance to listen to conference call. I added today to small position and knows it requires patience, but do U think the worst is behind Photon/Semi conductors, and would U rate the stock a Buy/Hold/Sell. Have been away for a short while and am now happy to once again be a part of the 5i Family. My Question..

I have approx $20,000 to invest. It is a credit to your team how well the 5i Balanced Equity Portfolio has performed. I will not be ashamed to invest my funds via following your lead. In looking at the portfolio and with "Growth" in mind, are you able to advise which of the companies within the portfolio you would start new positions?

Q: Not a question but thought subscribers should know that while TD dropped their target by a buck to $74.00, both National Bank and Desjardins Securities actually upgraded their targets following these results. That may explain the nice recovery in the SP since the initial reaction yesterday morning.

Q: How much patience is left on this name in the model portfolio in light of today's results?

Q: Back in September, I believe the lockup period was extended for another 90days. What date does it end? What effect might that have on how it trades after that date?
