Q: I want to sell my DOL (for a gain) and buy ATD-D on the dip. Good call, bad call or indifferent?

Q: Hi 5i,

I own Lightspeed and I am very happy with it, but I struggle to understand the valuation. Closing in on $100 a share which is an $11B market cap. Is the stock getting ahead of itself. Its tough not to take a double in a stock price in 2 months when there's a huge disconnect in valuation. They've made a couple of acquisitions and launched this new supply chain system, but they went from a $4B market cap to $11B in short order and are up 547% since the March lows. I'm itching to sell!! :)

Q: Hi,

I just purchased ATD.B at $42 thinking I was getting a good price. I guess not. I started with a 3% position so I still have room to add. Would you add on this news? It seems that this French grocer operates a number of convenience stores and has a footprint in Asia. Could this be a reason for the acquisition? Not sure why make a pitch for the whole Company if only parts of it are strategic to ATD.B.

Q: Happy New Year and thank you for all your wise advice over the last tumulus year. Between ATD and DOL, which of these 2 companies do you feel offer the best investment opportunity over the next 5+ years, taking into consideration, stability, risk, dividend and sales growth.

Q: I made a typo on a direct investing account and bought Alaris in ERR. I left the holding as was. Now, a few weeks later, I fell off my chair when I saw it has only 16 employees. Do you know anything about management’s ability and track record? I like the business model but wonder if the tiny team is such that it loves the thrill of risk so much that it gets drunk on it. ( I have known such teams at startups I bought in private placements. I have paid dearly for my lack of innoculation-- <shudder> ).

Q: I just took a quick look at the portfolios year-end numbers...congrats on the performance this year on all 3 portfolios.

Regarding the Balanced Portfolio, I note the asset allocation for Industrials @ 30% and Technology @ 19%, which appear to me to be almost a "bet" on these two sectors...50% allocated to these appears to be fairly aggressive. It has worked very well so far, but are you considering rebalancing at all?

Q: Hi 5i team,
Where is the PR group of KXS these days? They are strangely silent on the Blue Yonder complaint in a Texas court on patent infringement. The only item I see is the Dec 14th release saying that KSX will vigorously defend itself against the claims. That’s it. Has it gone to trial? Has KXS set out any defense? Most companies under attack would at least issue some sort of rebuttal. What do you make of this silence?

Q: Hi,

Question from Penny on January 4th about the buyout. You said we need to advice our broker that we want to tender to the offer. This is also my first time holding a company that has been bought out.

Just to make it clear, when doing this the shares will be tendered at 15.22$ (purchase price from Goldman) or at market price of the day?

Q: I want to increase my holding in Photon Control considerably. It has an amazing balance sheet and it seems cheap given technology valuations. However, can you help me understand Photon's market and customer base? For example, i read that Apple has begun creating their own semiconductors for optimal hardware/software synergy. Will Photon's clients eventually do this, too?
