Q: Not happy with general mills right now and Magna. What do you think should I keep them or move on. If I decide to move on is there any decent dividend paying companies in there respective categories.
Q: hi folks, significance of partnership for Galaxy Digital glxy/t with State Street bank & trust....stock traded up 5% ahead of news (when Bitcoin was near $60k)...and continued upward momentum today....would you be a buyer at C$17sh level, and what do you think is the trend for bitcoin....seems to be drifting lower from highs of $70k+...thanks as always, jb
Q: I have both NTR and WFG in my TFSA. I would like to raise some cash, and am considering selling either or both of these. Which would you sell? Portfolio balancing is not a consideration.
Q: I have held KXS and DSG long enough to be well up on both but wondering why KXS has been going sideways for so long while DSG does a nice steady climb.
Thank you
In a press release, Galaxy announced that its affiliate, Galaxy Asset Management, ("GAM"), reported preliminary assets under management of $6.2 billion as of May 31, 2024. The 9.8% increase in preliminary AUM compared to the prior month was primarily driven by market appreciation partially offset by the continued successful liquidation of assets associated with an ongoing opportunistic mandate. Can you please shed some light on " continued successful liquidation of assets associated with an ongoing opportunistic mandate". How does this 'oppertunistic mandate help/hurt GLXY, if at all.
Q: My patience with what appears to be a much loved KXS is now pretty much stretched.
I am told their business is on a solid footing and they are fundamentally doing well? So, is there a reason it has been sitting on the sidelines during this broad rally?
I was wondering if you could look in to your crystal ball and predict where we may find KXS 5-10-15 years from now....not necessarily the price, but just in general.
To me, it seems like KXS is not widely known, but is establishing itself as a quiet market leader. I like that they don't issue shares. What could the future hold - a take-out candidate? a dividend? dual-listing? I know they make some acquisitions, but will they continue to make more? Could this be an international leader in supply-chain one day? With a market cap of aprox. $4.3 billion could it one day scale to a larger Canadian tech name (e.g. $10 billion+)? Will that PE ratio ever come down? I know there is a report on it, just more considering what the future may hold....
Q: As you are well aware, Bitcoin has been taking off all over the world. When I watch interviews of people at conventions, it appears most are investing to protect against inflation and to counter the demise of the US dollar in the future. What are you're opinions on this? I realize it has been very volatile and risky, so do have any recommendations on technology linked to Bitcoin, but so far hasn't taken off?
I know there has been much angst here with Telus. And your responses in recent months have been very well thought out and helpful (rates; competitive/regulatory environment). I have a 2% weight in BCE, 1% weight in T. So not massive by any means. But the slow steady drip downwards in price is getting frustrating, and now seeing the price today lower than where it was in the depths of COVID in March 2020 is concerning. At what point do I just take the 1% in T and add to BCE?
Q: Have been considering a purchase of Intact Financial for exposure to insurance sector. But already own BRK.B , which I tend to think of in terms of its portfolio of holdings , but has at its core their insurance business .
Different animals , I guess , but how would you think about this ?
All other considerations aside , would you add to BRK.B or initiate a position in IFC ?
