Q: Material Sector - I hold a full position in .LIN and starter positions in EXP CS FCX WFG AEM - all recommended by 5i. I prefer to have a full position in one of these for a long-term [3-5 years] hold. How would you evaluate them [or any other you prefer] and recommend your highest conviction.
Thanks

Q: A dividend account, BCE down 16,%, BIP.Un down 14.5%, BEPC down 23%, DOO down 23% as well. Also own BN and BAM. Brookfield entities are 17% of the portfolio.
Do I sell my losers, knowing they're suffering from higher interest rates or simply stay patient?
Do you see concentration risk ? How high would you let the Brookfield entities run? I think DOO is a good firm but it could go. Please deduct questions as you see fit. Thank you in advance. David

Q: Looking to deploy some cash and I'm considering either CAE or Open Text in light of their recent share price declines.
Which one of the two would you consider to have the most potential for share price appreciation over the next 3-5 years, and why?
Appreciate your thoughts, Rick

Q: I have held PBH in my cash account for sometime and am up a paltry 6%. I'm considering selling and replacing with either LLY, HD or TRI. Looking for greater growth and willing to take on moderate risk. 3-5 year hold. I know these companies are apples and oranges, but I would appreciate your views on risk and reward for PBH, LLY, HD and TRI and which you would recommend I hold going forward. Thank you.

Q: What is your updated view on Russel Metals after their latest earnings report and large acquisition (Samuel $225M) in December. Net cash position and commentary on some recent and future CapEx focused on value added moderinazation projects to expand margins. It seems like something has changed with the company finally breaking out from the 30-35 range it has been in for 15 years.

John Reid
"It's definitely been a very robust market compared to anything I've seen and really the sustainability of that over 3 years...So the demand has been very good and also price of steel has been very good... And so, yes, it's been a really nice ride for the last 3 years and we don't see anything really pulling back on that next or I guess the next 2 or 3 years as far as we can see out, we just don't see anything to change that right now."

Q: Hi 5i
AC is to report earnings tomorrow. In your opinion, what will it take to move share price in positive direction? Last summer sp headed in the right direction till market drop....

Long term share holder,...looking forward, would you continue to hold...time frame shortens every year, now looking about 2 yr horizon.

Can you suggest alternatives to AC with reasonable growth/risk.

thx

Q: I read about "paying attention to valuation" but I don't understand how to arrive at a good "valuation" of a company.

Could you explain, in simple terms, and give an example of what would be a good [and a bad] valuation of an existing company's stock?

Could you use CAE or TIXT as an example of a good or bad valuation?

Thank you.

Q: I've been monitoring questions on NTR for some time, and you've been fairly consistent about $65 being a level to buy. This afternoon NTR hit $64.89 and bounced up very quickly to $66.
I wanted to ask -- how did you "guess" that? Was it based on technical analysis? Some type of valuation ratio? Or just a guess? I realize this is only intraday, that you can't always predict the bottom and that it go lower tomorrow, but was wondering how you pick prices to buy in.
