Q: I am interested in establishing a 2% position in the Consumer Defensive space, and I am debating between Loblaws and Premium Brands. This position is meant to be held for an extended time period of several years. Which company would be better positioned to provide me a substantial return, and if asked to choose, towards which one might you lean? If there is another opportunity in this space that you feel would better fit the aims I have described, I would be happy to read your thoughts. Thanks so much, and I look forward to reading your feedback.

Q: Hi team
the last question on this company by another person was in early Jan 2023
the acquisition or potential acquisition of IAA was not a most welcome news

he/she was told to wait until the dust settled abit

now that we are in March, I wonder if the situation or outlook for RBA .to has changed, it pays a dividend and looking for a long term hold for dividend and some capital appreciation

if not recommended at this stage, another similar name in Cdn market would be appreciated;

thanks

Michael

Q: Hi Team,
Understanding that weightings are personal, what is the highest weight that YOU would be comfortable with before trimming the stocks above?
Thanks

Q: Morning Peter & Team,

I've done very well lately, large part thanks to you. Now I am preparing to take some off the table. Plan on investing part into a 1 yr term @ 5.65% which I figure is pretty good. I am also looking for names (stocks or ETFs) which generate good cash flow and support high sustainable dividends. Can you give me 3 names (Canada & US) that you think deserve consideration? Preferably minimal debt if possible please.

Thanks for all you do

Q: This is a volatile sector. I am a GARP-type investor. Taking into account, management [execution], valuation, which one [or others if prefer US] would you recommend for a long-term total return position., with rationale for preference. Could you suggest entry price range.
Thank you.

Q: Hello 5i
Please explain if the sale or exchange of the 2 million shares is dilutive to shareholders- I don’t think so, please confirm.?. Who or what is HL1 17 LP ? The offering closes March 2. The closing date for this “event” is March 16: Are there two class of shares of RBI? If one is building a position is this a good entry point? Are shares likely to drift much lower than $63.99 (the price BoA is purchasing the shares for) in the face of this event? Would you see $63.99 as the floor? If not, can you guess how much lower?

Q: My TFSA has relatively small positions in these equities for some modest income. Most of my TFSA is positioned for growth. With Sylogist's recent dividend slash and resulting price tumble, I am thinking of taking my lumps on SYZ and redeploying the cash to buy more AX.UN that is value-priced.
What is your opinion?

Q: I've owned shares in Brookfield companies for a very long time, not having sold a share. I'm now very overweight in my overall portfolio 15%, BN & BIP.un being the lions share with smaller positions in BAM & BEPC.
I need to reduce the size of the overall position, can you share thoughts on similar types of companies that I could buy with that type of shareholder alignment in the management team

Q: Hello, we need to increase our weighting in Industrials, with current holdings mostly CNR (5%). Based on various BNN guests views and as finetuned with 5i recommendations, we have shortlisted these 3 names and the intention is to build at least 3% weighting, in each or all of these names. Could you please rank them based on your conviction. Also, would appreciate it if you could also provide a decent entry level as well as an Excellent Buy price. Thank You

Q: This question concerns a well diversified Canadian portfolio (~30 holdings), focused slightly toward growth.

Looking to add to positions in ATZ, DOO, BN, BAM, GSY, KXS, TRI, PBH and T as well as initiate a partial position in WELL, all for long term holds (5+ years).

Would you rate any of these as a wait-and-see rather than a buy today? Please rate (1-10) in terms of your conviction to buy today, along with suggested target buy range [great, okay].

Thank you.

Q: I originally purchased this stock reluctantly on the advice of my (then) advisor. I've never been a fan, as they seem to bounce from one crisis to another and have been stuck in a trading range until the recent hiring of Mr. Doyle; the trading range so far appears just slightly higher. There seems to be lot of investment advisor/analyst support at odds with my view. I am rethinking this position in my portfolio now I've no advisor, and am trying to decide if this one is worth keeping in my Consumer Cyclical group (currently underrepresented overall). I am interested in growth with this stock more than the dividend. Would appreciate your thoughts as it resides in your Income Portfolio. If not QSR then what is a plan B in this sector? Thanks very much.
