Q: I have a sum of money lying in a savings account earning neglible interest.
I would like to invest this money in some sort of interest bearing etf or portfolio.
My options would be to invest the money in:-
1) 5i Research Income Portfolio.
2) Hamilton ETF's HDIV and HYLD. I would put equal amounts into each ETF My thinking is that HDIV would give the income yield and HYLD would supply the growth.
I already run your 5i research Income Portfolio which I could add to

Q: Re CGI; do you know the reason for the very large spike in volume on May 31 and if it has significance? I saw the recent question regarding Helsinki University. There was subsequent news regarding the company successfully accessing Azure on behalf of the US Marine Corps. These sound very positive.
Thanks for your insight.

Q: Unfortunately I am down over 50% on all these stocks (held in my TFSA). I am “cleaning house”.
Please give your opinion as to whether any have the potential to recover and are worth holding for a bit longer.
Thanks for your help.

Q: Good morning
I would appreciate comments regarding investing in the Canadian financial sector versus US financials. This is in a tax sheltered account and currency volatility is not a concern. Thank you

Q: Good afternoon! There are two parts to this question:
1) You mentioned that BN would recover FASTER than Canadian banks, and given its having dropped more than any of the banks' 5 year highs, would you also say it has MORE upside, regardless of speed of recovery?
2) You mentioned that you see recovery for the Canadian banks, and that buying them is a good idea in the long term. I absolutely agree and have "doubled down" on that basis. However, you stated that you would not hold them at the 30% level of a portfolio. What do you think would be the MOST percentage-wise you would be comfortable with in a 100% stock dividend-payer retiree's portfolio?
Thanks! ... Paul K

Q: Hi,
I need to sell all the stocks in my non-registered account to access the cash in the next 2-5 years. I will be selling many of the stocks listed, in the next few weeks. Can you list them in SELL order with a few comments on the rationale.
Also, please list the top 10 Canadian stocks (from this list or others) for longterm holding, since I will buy some of them back in one of my registered accounts (RRSP, TFSA), likely over the next 2 years.
Thank you,
Camille

Q: Dear 5i,
In regards to BEPC:CA, BEP.UN:CA, BEPC:US, BEP:US and stock Beta.
Your web site reports: 0.80, 0.76, 1.09 and 0.87 respectively.
Does your web site report 3 Year Beta? If not, what is it? What is a reasonable Year Beta statistic to consider? Can you help explain why the Beta varies quite dramatically with the four different Brookfield Renewable tickers? There doesn't seem to be any obvious correlation between the Corporate versions and the different Currencies?

Q: Hi 5i team,

I have a growth and long term outlook and looking to trim some losers and replace with some winners. Of the following stocks, do you feel any need to hold for the long term? Also, what are some US/CAD replacements you would recommend and can you rank from highest to lowest based on overall strength?

Thanks 5i team.
