Q: Can you suggest a few US and Canadian stocks with good momentum and fundamentals that are well positioned to trade, but at the same time can be kept long term if the trade goes sour?

Q: I have Magna, Spin Master, Well Health Technologies in a TFSA, and AltaGas in a RRIF.
All are down slightly.

Could you please rate these in terms of potential and how much patience might be required.

Q: Hi 5i Team - Could you name a few start-up companies that have good management and decent growth potential as well as some cash on hand to fund operations, research and development for at least the next year, hopefully more. These would likely be companies that have not yet attracted analyst coverage and are low on the radar screen of investors. Any sectors in the U.S. and Canada are fine and market cap is not a concern. I feel that LMN and TOI might fit this description but I already hold them and am looking for some new ideas. Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

Portfolio Analytics indicates an overweight position in Utilities where the current holdings are BEP.UN, CPX, and FTS. Only CPX is showing a loss, and the other two have substantial gains. In what order would you sell part positions, in order to raise cash for Consumer Cyclical? This sector’s holdings include ATD, BYD, and CCL.B. In what order would you add to existing positions? Please suggest other Consumer Cyclical stocks to consider starting a position, if you feel it would further diversify our holdings in this sector. Thanks as always for the pertinent advice.

Q: How long do you think before AI starts changing things for companies? Where do you think we will see the first impact and what type of companies will be affected long range. I know this is a crystal ball question but your opinion of the future of AI and how we should prepare is highly valued.

Q: HI,
I need to raise some cash from my registered accounts in the next few weeks. What is your recommended sell order for these stocks?
Also, what are your top 3 Canadian and US recommended buys for a longterm hold?
Thank you.

Q: This question concerns the materials sector in a well-diversified Canadian portfolio (~30 holdings), focused slightly toward growth. Our target is for a 5% weight in this sector.

Currently the sector is underweight at a 2.5% allocation with NTR being the only holding. We are open to either doubling up on NTR or adding an equal amount of SJ. Which would be your preference and why?

For each of NTR and SJ Please rate (1-10) in terms of your conviction to buy today, along with suggested target buy range [great, okay].

Q: There is much speculation and commentary that we are either in a recession or will be in a recession in the next 6 to 12 months. I know it is impossible to predict timing or if we will in fact experience a recession but can you provide your view on how the markets react through a recession cycle, i.e. heading into and during a recession. Can you include the sectors that perform well during the cycle.

Thanks
Tim

Q: One of my basic investing tenets was to never buy an airline. But coming out of Covid, AC seemed like a can't-miss prospect (note to self - no such thing in investing!) Since the spring the stock is up about 23% and approaching my break even. This is not an equity that I want to hold for the long term so my question is: does one just continue to ride this momentum, albeit without a plan as to when to sell or just sell it now and be done with it?

I know you can't tell me when to sell but do you think there is still a lot of juice left in this stock?

Appreciate your insight.

Paul F.
