Q: I bought 4 different CIBC mutual funds on Oct 1 last year. The Dec 31 results were 2 had small gains, 2 had small losses and the net change for the 4 funds was +$256.47 for the 3 month period. I received a T3 slip that showed a capital gain of $808.17. How Is it possible to have a capital gain on a return like this? Art

Q: Hello,
I am looking for member questions on "Wealthsimple". However the searchbox is limited to 10 characters even when I use the "search all text" option. I therefore cannot find the question(s) on Wealthsimple using the search function, although I recall seeing them.
Could you direct me to where I can find them?
Thanks

Q: Dear Gentlemen,
These two companies ATB.a & L, are in Consumer Defensive sector, together they are weighting 9 % of total PF.
For re-balancing my PF, do I classified them with Consumer disc or Consumer Staples sector ?
Thank You.

Q: Howdy,
How do these two great companies compare with respect to IRR, top line growth and valuation? Which would you consider a better buy for long term growth?
Thanks.

Q: This is a follow up to my question regarding the upcoming IPO for David's Tea on the NASDAQ. Thanks for the question and looking through the S-1 Form.
My question is this: as a Canadian, what is the best way for us to participate in a U.S. listed IPO (like David's Tea) for example?

Q: It seems that I have missed the spike by Western Fraser and Canfor today . Is there a reason why Western Forest, Hardwoods, and Acadian didn't participate. Are you bullish on lumber ? Is it a good place to be over the summer ?... You don't seem to follow wood outside of ADN which has been quietly good to me... Thanks.
Q: In reply to the question of cdn companies that design mobile apps, you could also consider prontoform. These companies always seem way overpriced to me, but what do I know?
Q: Hi Peter and Team,

Q: I own some FF 71/2% Aug 2019 bonds bought back after the financial crisis. I have a nice capital gain but I notice that since they are now 4yr bonds the bond price is slowly eroding. Should I sell them, I'm all about taking profits.
Q: Dear Peter:
BTSX in Canadian Money Saver by David Stanley and now by Ross Grant is one of my favourite series. Mr. David Stanley usually picks May 24 as the entry point. With the recent run up and potential bounce back in the energy/resources sector, is there a merit in structuring one's portfolio now instead of waiting till May the 24th? If I am going to wait for another 5 weeks or so, where do you think I should park the cash?
(I am in my 60s and hence my fascination with BTSX approach).

Q: Hey guys,
I am really tempted to buy a half position in Corus, with the huge dividends and the way the market overeacted to the earnings reports. Forward PE seems really low as well.
What is your take on CJR.B today?
Cheers!

Q: Hello Peter and team,
I own both IPL and ENB in a non registered account. I've done well with both, but am considering selling one and replacing it with Enghouse to add diversity. Which would you let go and would you add Enghouse at these levels.
Thanks

Q: Hi Peter! I have collected a few names in my portfolio that have shrunk to little value and am wondering if you think I should hold on to these names or just exit the positions and move on. I'm not losing much by holding on to them but am unclear on whether there is much upside with any of these names? Ian
Q: Hi is it too late to get in on US biotech @ h/c. Do you think these elf's are good vehicles. Thought elf's were best as stock picking in those areas is not easy for me anyway. What is a hot Canadian sector thanks.
Q: (Follow-up to my question earlier today)
Thanks for the answer. However, I am curious as to where you obtained this info. Neither the Investors section of the Mitel Website, nor the business news feed on iTrade or NBDB shows any mention of this. (I also checked Google news - nothing there either.)
Thanks!
