Q: If taking up a position today, would you prefer Jean Coutu (PCJ.A) or Ridley (RCL) in the Consumer Defensive sector? I'm looking for a mid-term hold with some growth to help offset (ride-out) the present oil sector decline. I like the oil sector, and tend to usually be a bit overweight in my portfolio, but reason must prevail, given the volatility at the moment. Thanks, as always, for your wisdom. (In the event you don't like either name suggested, is there something else in the Consumer Sector you would prefer?)

Q: Let's say a couple has a $200K diversified portfolio of 25 stocks held in 3 or 4 registered accounts with no duplication of stocks between the accounts. How would you handle it if they had $200K in additional new funds to invest in non-registered accounts? I assume it would be appropriate to add some new names to the existing portfolio but what would be the best way to add to existing names? How many total stocks would be a good number? Would it be prudent to avoid having the same stock in more than one of these accounts in this type of scenario? All accounts would have a long-term time frame.
Q: Looking into 2015, which of the following do you project will perform the best - financials, materials, energy, consumer, utilities (and why)? and is there a specific sub sector that you project will be an outperformer? thank you.
Q: thinking (hoping) markets are near a bottom. order got filled today for cve @ $20, bep.un @ $33, bns @ $63.75. trying to pick up some +4% yielding stocks and hold in my rsp for the long term. brings my sector weights up to 7% oil/gas (ex pipelines) and 6% financials. decent buys at these levels?? Thanks
Q: Some of the stocks in my portfolio have been beaten up pretty bad, so much so that the downside risk has diminished considerably and the upside even with just a rebound, over the next year outweighs the risk. My energy exposure is 8% and the canadian financials is 19%.
Would you approve moving out of some steady eddies like BYD, DSG, ESL, MDA, MNW and STN and increase positions in ACQ, HCG, TOU RMP and BXE?
If you do approve are there any names above that you would not include in the rotation?
Thanks.

Q: Hi
I am about 7 years out from retirement. I have no health care associated stock and am wondering what you would suggest to enter that sector. ie Medtronic (MDT.us) or CCT

Q: I would like to sell Baytex to offset the capital gains that I made this year. I hold other oil and gas stocks already so I don't need to replace it with another oil and gas stock. I don't have much weight in the technology industry except for Enghouse Systems and it is about 2% weight. Should I add another name or invest more in this name? I also have no stocks or ETF in the health industry.I also have cash that I can invest as well but not quite sure where is the best place at the moment. I am a long term investor.
Thanks
Dolores

Q: Seasons Greetings 5i Team
I have noticed that NWC's recent 3rd Quarter was positive, as the chart up tic revealed. Trusting that I am not overly invested in this sector, I am thinking to add NWC to my long term 'income portfolio' ..as it really is not big on growth.
May I have your opinion of the finances of NWC please?
Thank you D Mc

Q: Hi Peter and Ryan. If I were to have 20% of my portfolio in the model portfolio and 40% in GICs what ETF or ETFs would you use for other diversification?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Hi team. Can I get your opinion on which is a better buy BCE OR T.
Q: Peter and team:
What to make of the investigation that is going on at Amaya. As a result IT was also down. Is there reason to be concerned? Would you sell or just hold or since IT is down quite a bit is this a buying opportunity?

Q: I've had a look at my portfolio allocations and would like to know your suggestions of what stocks to add to the following sector at this time: materials, telecom, consumer staples and industrials. Where should I start?
Q: Good day 5I Team,
Thank you for all of your hard work.
Do you think now is a good time to buy RUS? Their yield is around 6% as I write this question.
Happy holidays,
Terri

Q: Would you continue holding WPT : NYSE?
Q: Can you recommend any Alberta specific companies to short beyond the oil patch? I am looking at companies that derive a significant portion of their revenues from Alberta's previously buoyant economy and may be due for a rude awakening. Would you say ACQ and MIC fit those criteria? Thanks
Q: I have 10k in my RIF A/C in $US. I am thinking of buying Telus/ and or AYA in this US A/C. As these companies are listed in the US stock exchanges, does it make any difference if you buy in the US or Canadian a/c. Thanks for your most valuable advices.
Q: Is there any reason IT is getting hit almost twice as hard as AYA. I would think it would be the other way around. Thanks
Q: There has been occasional reference to the oil patch increasing their use of drones. It would seem then that drones would immensely benefit the work that SYD is directly involved in. But as noted in your reply to Ruth, SYD isn't doing very well.
So I'm curious if PUR is using drones
and that is why its stock is doing so much better. Also do you know the management of SYD and what do you think of them?
I really enjoy your Q & A. Lionel
