Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Avo issued shs 11/13 at $78.00 now $33.57
Acq 07/14 at $24.10 now $15.93
Phm 05/15 at $ 1.50 now $ 1.07
Drt 06/15 at 8.35 now $ 7.01

Should shareholders reduce their position when small/mid cap companies issue additional shs?
Could you alert us when you are aware that companies you cover intend to issue additional shares?

Q: Hi 5i, On many occasions you have indicated that you like to watch earnings and interest rates when it comes to your view on where the overall market might be heading. Could I please have your updated market view based on what we have seen from Q2 earnings season and the Fed comments of Wednesday.
Thanks Rob

Q: Hi Gents,

I have sold my house and moved to a new city. I am renting to start. Can you please advise how to invest the proceeds from the house sale for one year or so.

I would like some sort of capital appreciation but also want relatively decent protection. I think I might want to put some in to the U.S. market as well as the Canadian market.

Perhaps a selection of stocks from the income portfolio and/or etfs?

Or if I wanted to be really conservative, what would be the best money market type vehicle?

Thanks, Chris

Q: I am very happy with my suscription and have been since 5i was started. I am sure you are very busy with the questions, updates, portfolio analysis and all but was wondering if we can expect more reports on new compagnies and new ideas in the coming months/ year. I often find new ideas in the question section but usually prefer your summary analysis including rating and detailed comments. Just my 2 cents. Thank you again for your great work.

Q: RE: Information Technology stocks in the TSX.

I am looking to buy a stock in the IT sector of the TSX as part of my portfolio diversification.

I prefer a IT stock that pays a dividend.
Absolute software, Constellation, Com Dev, DH Corp, Open Text are some of the names I came up with.

I always try to get familiar with the businesses I buy stock in but in the IT sector I do have difficulty understanding these businesses even after reading the company description on their websites.

Could you give me your opinion on IT stocks listed in the TSX that pay a dividend. And also possibly give me a description of the business in layman's terms?

Thank you very much.
Best regards

Q: I am wondering if you have an opinion on Hudson Resources? I have owned shares in the company for a few years, awaiting news which we saw today, that they signed a very large contract with Owens Corning for the sale of anorthosite to be used in the manufacturing of fiberglass. Supposedly this is the first of many supply agreements to be signed but the PR said that this agreement covers the major portion of the initial required volume. Supposedly this company will become a big cash cow, with very little capital required. The only problem is that it doesn't seem like any brokerage firms cover the company. After this PR only $80k has traded today. Just wondering if you have looked at this company in the past or if you have seen brokerage coverage on it?

Q: The last question I asked about FSV you said it was expensive. Is this in regards to historical norms or has it always been expensive like other good quality stocks.

Thx

Q: Hi 5i team,

I think now would be a time to high grade my energy and real estate stocks.

In energy I have CPG, WCP, SGY, TOU and SCL. The "winner" in this group is WCP; the biggest loss is in SGY. [Plus I have PPL, ENB and IPL which you consider as utilities; all in very positive territory.] Which stocks would you remove? What would you do to high grade this mixture?

In the real estate sector I have XRE, AX.UN, DRG.UN and TCN. I was considering selling one or both of AX.UN and DRG.UN, and adding to TCN. What would you do to high grade this mixture?

Thanks for your insight,
Paul J

Q: Good morning,
I thought I submitted this yesterday, perhaps I didn't.
My question is about Slate Retail REIT, you commented on it last year saying it was early for this one. I'd appreciate your current views on this company? In this environment the USD revenue coming home looks attractive, as well as the dividend. Your thoughts? Thanks so much, Rod

Q: Hello Peter,
Looking at your reply on July 14 regarding Aliment Couche Tard, the company did miss on revenues and adjusted earnings, yet the stock held up fine. Constellation software has done exceptionally well; however, they had a slight miss on revenues and earnings. Can you shed light as to why investors may forgive one company but yet punish another when both are considered very solid companies (CSU is down 5 percent or so on the earnings release). Thanks

Q: I have watched this stock plummet over the last few months and would like to know if you see value here? I have heard a overhaul is being looked at across all operations. Do you know the current cash position and if they can continue to pay the dividend? It looks to be heading toward the 2009 $11.00 -$12.50 area. Do you see deep value here. Thank you for your thoughts. Jason N.
