Q: Empire got hit today with the Safeway deal. Will they recover? A guess on timeframe? Could this be a time to add to a position?

Q: Peter and Team:
Currently down about 30% on this one. Thinking of taking the loss and rotating out into another company in similar sector. Any suggestions from your BE Portfolio. Also are you aware what is happening with the share buyback process? I am in it for a 5 year+ hold and don't mind waiting for TFI, but was thinking there might be something "better" as I try to clean up my portfolio.
Thanks as always.
Phil

Q: I am thinking about purchasing MRU and from your answers to other's questions you seem to like it well enough. My concern is that I also own ATD.B & back in Oct/15 you stated that Metro owns some ATD shares (I think you said 22% of ATD). I would like to know what %age of the Metro price depends on ATD. If you are able to give me a number I would appreciate it, and would also be interested in where to find the information.
Q: Epic collapse by Performance sports. Under $4 with a strong rebound yesterday. My question is whether this company is an obvious rebound candidate - even if only as a target for a larger company to buy for something in the 8-10 range.
Is this a solid trade to capitalize on an over reaction in the market or am I better off playing roulette?
Thanks

Q: What is your opinion of the Q4 earnings report, and how does it compare to that of MRE?
Q: Hello, I have this left over from the days of having a broker/advisor. This fund has a management fee of 1.6% and an MER of 1.84%. It appears to be a "fund of funds" and and the information presents that it is to emphasize income wiht some potential for capital appreciation. The returns have been (starting in 2011) 4.8%, 4.3%, 2.9%, 6.9% and .1%. Seems the return/performance has been lacklustre at best and would it not be better for me to put some of the monies in a bond etf and the rest in either a stock etf or individual equities? Recommendations for the bond etf? You thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you. Bill
Q: Goodmorning. What r ur thoughts on this company as a long term hold for a tfsa for a conservative investor?
Q: Hello to everyone at 5i
With acknowledgment to the variations in the businesses in each of KXS, CSU and GOOGL, is there a clear winner amongst these 3 for a long term hold?
Thanks very much

Q: I have noticed different terminology used by diff firms when reporting performance. BMO (personal acct) uses 'avg ann compound rate of rtn'; RBC provides 'annualized' 'calendar' or 'cumulative'; Mawer uses annual or annualized (one can select); Invesco just reports 'performance'; Templeton reports 'annual or calendar perf'; G&M provides 1 and 5 yr total returns (compound % rtn) and a 3 yr compound % rtn. I tried using the internet/Investopedia with limited success. My question is: is "CAGR" (cmpd ann growth rate) the same as "annualized return" which is same as "compound % return"? Is there a resource that you know of that makes some sense of the different terminologies?
PS: I like to use the G&M as they provide perf numbers (as well as Div Gwth RAte, PEG ratios, etc) for stocks, ETFs, MFs on the same site, there should be some measure of consistency, thus facilitating an apple to apple comparison.

Q: Goodmorning. What are your thoughts on this company i have owned it for over a year now at twelve dollars and have seen no share growth. It does pay a nice dividend. Would you continue to hold or suggest moving on as i would have thought it would be more of a growth company?? Thks for the great work
Q: Healthy 92 year old has enough monthly income from pensions and old age securities to cover all long term care costs and needs. Additionally has 6-7 digits of cash that we are wondering what to do with in order to preserve capital and have some growth. Thoughts on 1-3 year corporate bond ladder, a bond etf or any other suggestions for stocks or anything else?
Q: I currently hold small position in Itp and thinking of adding to it in my Tsfa. Is there another stock you would recommend in this sector.
Thanks again for your great service

Good Morning Peter
I have a large position in ALGOMA CENTRAL CORP CONV UNSEC SUBORD DEBS 03/31/18 6.00%. When these mature in 2018 am I guaranteed to get paid back in cash or is there any danger of being paid in shares at the conversion rate because if so and if the share price is away down in 2018 I would be better off selling the debentures now as they are trading at par.
Thank you.... Paul K

Q: Hi. Can you please give your opinion about this Company and proposed acquisition of Spectrum/ Blade Optics. Do you think it is OK to invest in this company for a medium risk investor with 3 years hold time. I know it is very early stages from what I read, but I want to know your confidence levels in case you know the management team.
Q: Your thoughts on Ritchie Bros as an investment? It seems to me that the supply of product for sale should be increasing dramatically, even though the unit price may be falling! It seems like a good play on the hardship of the oil sector which we have not seen the full negative effects yet.
Q: In your expert opinion, would the above be considered as growth, value or income stocks? I am trying to construct a "somewhat safe" growth portfolio. Thank You Ron
Q: Hello,
hoping you can comment on the 4th quarter results. Also, I know there have been some red flags with management in the past (I read a seeking alpha article that painted a not so pretty picture a couple years ago) and I seem to recall you guys commenting so - any further comments to this?
p.s. great showing by Ryan on BNN - curious if you get to have fun and choose what you want to recommend independently or if as a team at 5i ya'll decide what stocks to talk about?

Q: Hi is there a guideline of what makes an A/A- or B/B- for your report cards for your gross margin and net margin? What is a good gross and net profit margin to you - above ~15%? Do you use net income or operating income for this calculation? Thanks.
