Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I have a question about Grenville Strategic Royalty's announcement yesterday about their stopping their dividend (which I expected) and their new partnerships (which I did not expect). Do you think that these new partnerships are a good idea? Do you think that their debenture is a safe investment at this time (as part of a diversified portfolio)?

Q: Hallo I5, my cash position is over 25% and would like to buy one or more of the above stocks with div. income in mind and some growth. I would appreciate your help in my selection, perhaps suggest better ones. I like the chart of MFR.un but can not find any information MER, holdings, etc. I also own MAW104 and Maw105 in my portfolio and I am up 25% on both, should I take profit? Many thanks for your advise. J.A.P.Burlington

Q: There is a good article (approx. 8 pages long) in the recent National Post regarding the Cannabis Industry both in Canada and the U.S. which has a few states where it is legal for retail sale.

One grower in Denver, Colorado (where there is a lot of regulations which constantly change) has a legal grow facility and 14 stores. The facility spends $150,000 per month on electricity alone.

It is not as easy to grow and harvest to the specs required as many people may assume the article shows to some degree.

Q: With a market cap of almost $700mm and little to no sales revenue, investors are stampeding into Canopy and anything weed related.

When recreational marijuana is legalized should we expect bigger participants to enter the industry? I keep thinking that the current names are run by greedy white-collars who have little expertise but do have access to capital. Will these early RTO's get weeded out when big pharma and the gang step into the sector?

People are talking about weed as if it's the rediscovery of the wheel and fire. This is an easily replicated farm crop that requires very little skill, capital outlay and maintenance.

Care to share your thoughts on the zebra-striped elephant galloping through the green house?

Thank you
