Q: Hi 5i Team,
I'm looking at some of my losers and pondering either getting rid of the or adding to them.
DHT.UN, HMM, OTXT, TSU
With some room freed up I was thinking of starting positions in PKI and DSG
What are your thoughts on the 4 stocks I'm down on? Would you add to any of them or look to sell for better opportunities? How would you rank them if you were to sell?
What are your thoughts on DSG and PKI? Do you view them as buyable now for 5-10 year holds?
This is in a TFSA which aims to balance growth and income.
Thanks for the Great Service!
Colin

Q: What are your views on Gildan as an investment for a 3-5 year hold? Also thinking of CAE as a turn around story.Which do you feel has the better prospects?
Q: Hello 5i,
I appreciate your thoughts on Fartcoin. It has a market cap of 1.1 billion but seems to be quite volatile.
Merry Christmas.

Q: Thank you for your continued sharing of insight on the underpinnings of our CAD investment economy.
I think you may have missed a part of Keith's question today. The picture certainly looks bleak for the CAD$ - I suppose the news is as bad as it can get?
This said, there should be solid assets/sectors that can thrive in a 50 cent CAD dollar situation.
If so, please elaborate - when this day arrives there will be US investors looking north at our 2 for 1 sale.
Thank you

Q: Hi Peter and all at 5i. Wishing you the best of the season!
Peter, first of all, I really enjoyed your last article in the National Post. Your financial stories were highly entertaining.
I manage a RRSP for my daughter-in-law. She has approximately 24K in cash due to a GIC that recently matured. (She got 5.16% interest).
She has these commission-free ETFs: CEW, QQC.F, XHC, XIT, and XST. She would have to pay a $10 commission on the following stocks and ETFs: BCE, BNS, FTS, PBH, SLF, WSP, ZIN, and ZRE.
Question 1. In what order would you suggest she uses the cash to purchase more of the commission-free ETFs?
Question 2. If there are compelling reasons to do so, in what order would you suggest she uses the cash to purchase more of the stocks and ETFs where there is a $10 commission?
I’m hoping that this question can be answered before Christmas if possible. Please use as many question credits as you see fit to provide a comprehensive reply.
Thanks as always for your valuable insight.

Q: Would you be comfortable selling ATD for a small profit and buying a full position in URI now, URI is down 14 % percent over the past month. I would then buy back ATD over time.
Or would you average into URI over time? I think the bottom may be in, as the stock has started going up again.

Q: what do you think about the commodities area right now oil and gas precious metals
and the other group of metals? do you see the stock under preforming or doing better then the tsx in general? Also what 3 areas do you see possibly out preforming the markets?

Q: Dear Peter et al:
Heartfelt Thanks for your infatigable work in answering literally thousands of questions. Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Happy, Peaceful and Prosperous New Year.
As 2024 is winding down, I decided to take an inventory of my personalized "5i Research Portfolio"! Over the period of years, I have "learnt" to "read between" the lines of your answers. Your choice of words and your nuanced way of answering the questions helped me to "curate" and put together my own 5i Portfolio!
The only "loser" was Pay fare! (PAY). I am down in GSY but easily compensated by my gains in PRL. My TOI and LMN are doing "Okay". (Up and down) I will hold them for a while. Not worried about them given the cautiously optimistic "tone" of your answers to other subscribers about TOI/LMN.
Your faith in Private Equity, in BN especially, KKR,BLK,BX, GOOG,AMZN,MSFT,META and Gold have all paid off handsomely.
For the fresh funds in 2025, will you suggest add to the same equities mentioned above? If so in what order?
Or would you suggest another Private Equity firm or another steady grower that is safe?
P.S. NOT a good day to ask this question! Dow down by 1000 points!! But I can "hear" you saying, not to panic!!
Have a Great Day folks.

Q: This stock was owned long ago under 70$ haha.
It's clearly one the best performing out of the TSX on a very long run.
I am looking to average into a position in my non registered Canadian side of my portfolio.
Would you please provide a "fair value" range that you'd be comfortable starting in.
This will be a longterm core holding.
Thank you.

Q: Merry Christmas 5i folks.
Thanks for everything this year. Overall very solid returns achieved.
I was holding ZWT and then added QMAX (to compare for a bit and then consolidate) for Sector exposure, but when I looked at my whole portfolio, AMZN, MSFT, NVDA, GOOG and SHOP, through 40-600% gains (many thanks), have become about a third of my portfolio, but also represent 40 and about 22% of ZWT and QMAX. With their fortunes tied so heavily to my individual holdings, is it worth holding a sector ETF?
Conversely, I kept teeter-tottering on which Canadian bank was going to be "The best" over the next few years +, and not pulling the trigger. Based on some of your other answers recently, I settled on going with a 6% position in ZEB, and am ultimately pretty happy with the lower management fee and equal weighting approach, and having a holding in the financials. Do you think the outlook for the financial space over the next few years would justify a higher weighting? Would adding a small position in PRL or something make it more complete?
On the small caps side of things, I have positions in PNG, TCS, CLBT, TMDX, ASPN, HPS and CALF. CALF has been sort of... uninteresting, and I'm considering selling it and initiating a couple more small caps for more torque. Front runners currently are VHI, ZDC, WELL, MDA. Thoughts? Any others you would put in there? Would you dump ASPN for UFPT?
Given how weak the Canadian dollar is right now, would you prioritize US or dual listed companies? Or will Canadian ones get a 'Double boost' if we can get some strength back in the loonie?
Thanks for everything, and Have a great new year!
James
