Q: I have been reading many of your answers to members' questions about BAM. You seem to really like the company but it's not in any of your model portfolios. Why not? If you were to include it in one of the models, which would it be? Which sector does BAM fit into? As always thanks for your guidance.

Q: I'm considering a portfolio review but have concerns regarding your admitted bias towards small/mid size stocks. We are retired and our investing objective is primarily wealth preservation with some growth. I am primarily a large cap dividend investor in my main portfolio although I have initiated a small position in your balanced model portfolio in my TFSA. If I were to request a review, would you be recommending primarily mid to small cap stocks for the portfolio, or would you feel comfortable recommending more larger cap stocks given my preference?
Q: Dear 5i
I am 62 and plan on retiring in 2 years . I am open to positioning myself for 2 more years of some growth but preservation of capital is also important .
I have about 1M in RRSP`s and and close to shifting this amt to my brokerage co. to invest .
I`m thinking the following
1-$300,000 into Income portfolio including 10 good stocks from the Balanced Equity.
2-$300,000 into two different Bond ETF`s (fixed income )
3-$400,000 into 4 different ETF`s.
Does this setup look good to you and if so what ETF`s might you recommend given the current economic climate and my age ?
I don`t need income from the investments currently but think its important to have good dividend growth along with some capital gains .
I`m like most and prefer not to pay high MER`s as well.
Please deduct more than one question for this .
Thanks and looking forward to your response .

Q: Hello;
I have full position of ZCL. I would like to take full positions in CCL.B and RPI.UN for 2 to 3 year horizon.
However, all of the above are in packaging industry. Is it advisable to put so much in one industry? Thanks.

Q: Your valued experienced and knowledgeable opinion on the second quarter please. Also any comment on Quote: "In terms of our Recapitalization go-private transaction, we are awaiting the decision of the CRTC," added Mr. Redmond.
I still hold shares in this and was even thinking of accepting SIRI shares if this thing happens? Or should I just give it up and move on?
Thanks.....Stephen S

Q: We have two RESP's one with ages 9 and 13 and the other for an 11 year old. Both RESP's are currently 50% cash. The largest single holding in both is ZLB. Please suggest 5 good company growth stocks with positive momentum and good valuations in your opinion. Thank you.
Q: Hi 5i Team,
Im looking to replace PD in my TFSA. I thought I was smarter than the market when I purchased it at an average price above $10. I did little homework on the name and now I'm paying the price. I typically have a tremendous amount of patience with investments. What would you do if you owned this stock? I know there are better opportunities out there, but I feel like if oil moves to the upside this name has a lot of potential.
Thanks,
FP

Q: Consideting adding a full position split between MG and XTC as my industrial sector allocation. Your thoughts! They look too cheap to pass up on.
Q: I still have TNC shares. Do you know when the payout will take place? If it's soon, I'll wait. If not, I'll sell and redeploy funds elsewhere?
Q: As yet, I have not 're-balanced' my portfolio by selling some of Savaria. I still have a significant cash balance and don't really need to. Do you regard it as a sell to some degree, or should I stick with my doubling of this investment. I do have Suncor in my 'Balanced Equity Port.' Perhaps you had it at one time and I missed a sell on it? Should I keep this equity or sell it? One of the few equities I never purchased in my portfolio (it is difficult to buy in my US Schwab international acct). Seeing how it has retracted from highs, do you consider this a value purchase now?

I appreciate your looking into this for us....
Q: Good day all. I'm noticing increasing activity in the agricultural sector. Do you see an upswing coming for the industry, and what name or two would you suggest owning to participate?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
Q: Input Capital released a Q2 update, streaming contracts, canola sales etc. Are they "turning the corner", "gaining traction", what are your comments on how this story is developing, also valuation? Thanks

Q: Hey 5i team,
It seems as though the solar power industry is gaining traction in the global market, and will continue to do so in the coming years.
With the ever-increasing efficiency of emerging storage solutions to help mitigate problems attributed with solar (ie the duck curve), it appears as though more nation's are beggining to view solar as a feasible option... I'm thinking about the South Australian government's plans for battery storage and India's solar boom.
Can you provide any comments on this trend, and are there any ETF's or indiviual stocks you like, that play the solar market on a global scale?
Always appreciate your input!

Q: What would be a few names you might suggest to replace RDM ( either growth or growth plus income) Thanx Robbie
Q: How would you assess the prospects of these two companies over the next year or so? I am considering swapping them for Constellation Software. Would this be a good move?
Q: Hi,
I’m 67 years old and rely on dividend income. I think it may be time to transform my 45 stock portfolio into something more in tune with my age and risk tolerance. It would hopefully reduce the amount of decisions I would have to make since they say the older we get, the more our decision making skills start to slip.
Right now my portfolio follows a 60% 5i Canadian equity market sector balance, and about 20% US equities and 20% cash. My thought is to create a portfolio with the following asset allocation:
30% Gov & Corp Bonds VAB
15% Canadian Equity VCN or Canadian Div CDZ
15% Individual CDN small & Med cap stocks
10% US Equity VUN
20% US Large cap individual stocks already in Portfolio
10% International Equity VDU & VEE
Your comments would be appreciated.
Thank You
Frank
