Q: Could you please give me your thoughts on The Horizons Medical Marijuana Life Sciences ETF (TSX: HMMJ). It is an ETF that will be offerred by Horizon this Thursday. It has a fairly high MER of 0.75. Might be a safe way to hold a basket of marijuana stocks. Here is a link to an article about it http://business.financialpost.com/investing/marijuana-etf-the-most-scrutinized-fund-that-weve-ever-launched-horizons-ceo-says

Q: How do Callidus Capital's earnings look?

What do you think of management's comment "Early expressions of interest support initial valuations that would translate into a price received by tendering shareholders that is consistent with the previously disclosed valuation range provided by National Bank Financial ($18 to $22 per share) that accompanied the SIB in April 2016".

I'm thinking about initiating a position but get I also get nervous when management starts throwing out guesses as to what they think their shares are worth.

Thanks.

Q: Greetings

95% of my portfolio is invested for the long term and follows your three portfolios. However, I do keep aside about 5% for short term trading ideas - stocks who have overcorrected, activist type investor, or those that trade within a set range. Like the Methanex situation, can you provide any other short term trading ideas. I have learned over time to trade with a goal in mind and to never get greedy. I consider these funds my spending money. Any ideas would be great.

Q: Hi,

I have some questions to ask:

1) I have noticed that there has been insider buying in Whitecap Resources (WCP) and Raging River Exploration (RRX), but they dropped by 2% and 4.5% respectively on March 30. Do you have any comments/idea why this happened?

2) Why is MacDonald Dettwiler (MDA) finally moving upside?

3) Peter Lynch avoids investing in computer stocks since new computer/tech companies keep popping up. But he also mentioned keep an open mind to new ideas. In Davos Economic Forum it was mentioned that we are currently in the fourth industrial revolution which is electronic based. Do you have any suggestions for stocks participating in this trend?

Thank you.

Q: I am considering selling DH now rather than wait for closing of the sale. I would like to replace it with 1 of the 3 mentioned. Which of these 3 would you suggest or do you have another good alternative. I am thinking that my replacement would likely make up for the amount lost by not waiting for the closing of the DH sale. It does not have to be a Dividend payer.
Thanks 5i for the great information and advise that you give. It has certainly been very helpful and profitable for me.

Q: This is in response to your answer to Stan(1) in regards to dividend income and DRIP plans.
I agree that taxable Canadian dividend income does not reduce the A.C.B. of the stock shares held, but then neither does the market value of the shares received under a DRIP. In fact the value of the shares at the time of the dividend payment is added to the A.C.B of your share holdings at the same time that you are credited with the additional shares. For reduce of A.C.B., are you not referring to "Return of Capital" which would be noted on the Corporate website under dividends/distributions and can be found in the appropriate box on your T5/T3 supplementary slips received each year.

Q: Given the drop in ENGH on the Amazon news, I want to make sure I understand the relationship SHOP has to Amazon. I believe that SHOP provides software to businesses that utilize Amazon but that Amazon does not license, own or necessarily encourage people to use SHOP software. Is that correct? If so, would the risk to SHOP in this "relationship" be if Amazon decided to develop its own software (unlikely, I think) or if Amazon formally named another software partner that businesses would be better of using to deal with them?

Thanks.
