Q: Greetings all:
Jim Pattison has been buying a few million dollars of the above which
brings his % up. Wft has in turn introduced a poison pill. When asked
his reply was that it doesn't affect them because they have owned shares for 19 years. I have tried to understand this comment and
cannot. Please try to enlighten me.
Thanks,
Ben.

Q: Hi 5i team,
I see QSR will release earning on Apr 22nd and still forecast 1.26B/0.53 EPS for Q1 2020. With the current environment, does this sounds too optimistic? I still hold it but worry that it will have big dig if company misses earnings. Appreciate your input here.

Q: CAS has been hitting 52 week highs. Is there an explanation other than market "enthusiasm/madness" due to press releases stating CAS will be making medical masks? I know you are generally negative on this company due, if I recall correctly, to elevated debt levels but has your opinion changed?
Thanks,
Jim
Thanks,
Jim

First Capital Real Estate Investment Trust (FCR.UN $23.39)
Q: Assuming this pandemic continues into June or July, where do see the AC's stock price (ball park of course) by the end of the summer?
Will this knock out some of the competition and allow AC to "come back" stronger?
Thoughts on FCR.UN?

Q: Peter
I know you have said that the stock market may start going up before this crisis is over and confuse and confound investors. Well I am one of those investors. If as the Royal Bank said this morning millions of dollars have been pulled out of mutual funds in the last several weeks, I can’t imagine that it is those people getting back in the market or is it? Where is all the money coming from to buy stocks? What is the stock market anyway? Institutions and individuals buying and selling to each other to try and make a buck? I read once that the world could do without oil before they could do without the stock market. Do you believe that?
Post if you want. I am sure I am not the only investor out there who can’t make sense of the stock market.

Q: Trading at ~$24 a share gives a market cap of roughly 1.45 billion. If they earned 297 million fiscal 2019, that would give a TTM PE of 4.89.
I know their properties are closed right now, but is this not a great buy looking out 2-3 years?
Any comment would be great. Are there any other companies you like that are trading at these ridiculous valuations?

Q: First quarter earning reports are due out soon. They wont be great because of March. The second quarter will be far worse with only essential service personal working. Yet there is a huge two day rally happening right now. Is this a smoke screen and with it likely come crashing down during these reporting cycles.
Thanks Steve

Q: My wife and I are seniors drawing from our RRIF's and we are 'buy and hold' type of investors and need income. Your recommendations to 'harvest' capital losses is something that we have not really done previously but this suggestion is resonating with us now. If we were to do this I think we would look for 'proxy' purchases for at least the 30 day waiting period before we could repurchase the same equities if we wished.
Could you suggest some appropriate 'proxy holdings' we should be aware of for the following equities?
1. The REITs HR.UN, BPY.UN......would ZRE be a good holder?
2. EXE
3. POW
4. FM
5. MTY
6. TFII
Please use my question credits as appropriate. With thanks

Q: Are there any tsx listed medium and large cap companies that incur most of their costs in Canada but most of their revenue in the US? I ask because those companies may get a bump in revenue and profit because of the low cdn dollar/high us dollar.
Q: Your thoughts on these 2. Likelihood of either not surviving the crisis vs likelihood they offer large returns for the 5-7 year investor?
Q: Hi 5i,
Main question: How much overlap is there in the equities exposure of VSP and XQQ? Are there specific companies where any such overlap is concentrated to the point of being worth mentioning?
Follow-up clarification: In Derek’s March 30 Canadian pipelines question where you ranked 4 pipes on balance sheet strength and preferability, you named Enbridge 3-bal and 1-pref. What offsets the weaker balance sheet aspect? Balance sheet differences not being material? More reliable income stream maybe in the event of a sector meltdown? The track record on growth and dividend growth maybe? Size?
Thanks

Q: Hi 5i,
The Canadian forestry industry has been particularly punished in the volatility so far. What are your opinions on the sector for a long-term hold today? Do any companies stand out in particular?
Thank you in advance.
