Q: If you had $1,500.00 cash in your TFSA right now and you didn't need the money for 20 years and you could only invest in one of PHO, GUD, SHOP AT or GSY which would you invest in and why?

Q: Good Morning: Regarding NAFTA and softwood lumber, having placed tariffs on Cdn producers, our exports have been replaced with lumber from Russia. (Their exports have increased 42% YTD at our expense.) Would you consider our negotiating position is more compelling and would you recommend adding softwood securities now? If so, any recommendations? Thank you. Marty

Q: Hello, would you classify all of the following as industrials? My weighting (in order shown with highest first) is 24% so if they are all industrials I need to trim. I assume you'd get rid of DRT. If I also would get rid of another I could bump up my ZCL. (I feel comfortable at 20% weighting so if I've mis-categorized I may not need to do anything).

Q: I'm sitting on a +/- 50% loss on both CCO and WJX and have been waiting for some sign of life for several years. Is it time to accept defeat and move on? I'm also holding on to a smaller loss on CXI. If I sell it I need to replace it with some other financial. What would you advise? Also, my CSI has grown to approx. 8% of the portfolio. Do I sell some to cover the other losses even though it's my best performer?
Thanks, Rod

Q: This is my dilemma I already hold 32 stocks. I own the above stocks with full positions in SBUX and MG and 1/2 position in AMZN to make up the consumer discretionary portion of my portfolio for a goal of 10%. This currently makes up 8% of this sector. My question is do I add to AMZN for a full position or add another stock? I own most of the stocks in the balanced portfolio and if I would follow that TOY would be your choice if I add another stock(I think) or would you add something else to the mix if adding another stock makes sense. My $US/$CAD mix is pretty much in line with what I want so I could go either way on that option. Thanks for the opinion in advance.

Q: I am a new member. So, sorry I am not familiar with how reports get published. I just read report on TPK with C rating. This is my own preference but as a member, I would like to know about the companies with possible good future growth which can enhance our portfolio value. Q: Good morning...I have a balanced portfolio and have additional cash to deploy...I basically own more or less 5i covered stocks...currently out of ENB, ATD.B, New Flyer, SHOP, CSU..would you add to? Also OTEX which I am holding but currently down (18%) would you add at this point..

Another question...if you had additional funds what would you be adding to on your covered stocks...no worry of allocation...top 10 in order..

Thanks

Q: Hi 5i,

As of today, which stocks would you purchase with a full position in an RRSP to hold for 3-5 years?

Which stocks would you consider value stocks to purchase today for 1/2 to a full position in an RRSP?

Thank you for your excellent service and advice.

Cheers,

Jerry & Debbie

Q: Thinking of deploying some cash, maybe 3% of portfolio, between high yielding names that could have significant upside if things work out well for them (not usually my investment strategy - buy names with significant challenges and hope things work out). Among the names I'm considering are Callidus Capital, Pivot Technology and Alaris Royalty. Any problem with this strategy? I'm particularly intrigued by Pivot's eps expectations over the next few years (granted only one analyst follows them but he is forecasting 2018 eps at 63 cents and 2020 eps at $1.24.

Thanks.

John

Q: I have been looking to add ZZZ for a while now. The stock price has declined since earnings and I have decided to start a position. My portfolio consists of 25 stocks and since I do not want to increase this number I have to find a company to swap out. While I have done pretty well on MTY I feel the long term trend of online shopping and decline of big department stores will eventually hurt food court sales. Do you have any comments on if a switch to ZZZ from MTY is needed? Would you agree that ZZZ has greater long term potential?
