Q: Good Morning 5i,
Here's a different question guys: I am helping a good friend with his investing. He is a hard core hockey aficionado and wonders if there is any publically-traded company that he can purchase that is related to the game he loves. He already has some Rogers shares. I am stumped. Got anything? Leafs preferred but ultimately doesn't matter.
Thanks!
Kim

Q: Hi There,
This is a two part question regarding my kids RESP account.
The first question, I hold a full position of REI.UN in this account and just learned that as of November, Riocan has suspended their DRIP program. In light of this and the recent weakness, I am considering selling REI.UN and replacing it with CSH.UN. Is this something you think would be prudent, or should I replace it with something other than CSH.UN? (see second part of question)
If I replace REI.UN with CSH.UN I will still have enough cash to buy a position in two of the following stocks, DOL, NFI, GC, PHO, GSY .
In this account I currently hold BNS, MG, FFH,OTEX & REI.UN with a five plus year time frame.
Thank you for your assistance.

Q: Hi there, I watched a guest on market call yesterday (Jason Mann) discussing CGX and he was saying the payout ratio was over 100% and expected a dividend cut. Is 5i looking at different numbers and if so what payout ratio do you come up with. If it is over 100% would it not be a candidate for removal from the income portfolio?
On GUD you just answered a question from Brian approving of a move to transfer GUD from a regular acct into his tfsa to shelter future gains, which makes sense, but also to "crystalize losses". I thought the 30 day rule would apply in this case, would it not? I don't believe his loss would be allowed if he did this move. I know if he had a gain , he would have to report and pay cap gains on it. Funny how it only works one way in the govt's favor.
thanks Tom

Q: Dear Team:
I have been retired for 5 years now and have been self investing with a return of 13.58% on average. I have reached 60 years and feel that I should have more fixed income as of right now; I have about 12% of fixed income. My portfolio size is over $1M. I have 2 questions for you:
1) Do you think I need more fixed income?
2) If I was to increase my fixed income, I am thinking of an ETF for either Re-set Preferred Shares or Short Term Corp Bonds or Real Return Bonds. Which do you like?
Thanks for your time
Jim

Q: Hello
I have a question on ''ANNUALIZED RETURNS'' definition.
I came upon this website and it has caused me some confusion.
https://www.wealthenabler.in/knowledge-center/financial-freedom-demystified/annualized-returns-vs-cagr/
I was under the impression ''ANNUALIZED RETURNS'' AND "COMPOUND ANNUAL GRowth RATE'' was the same thing but this web site suggests maybe it is not?
In my questrade account under returns it shows ''Annualized'', and I always believed that included ''compounding'' and was not just Overall % Gains / Number of years?
I am hoping you can straighten me out here.
Thank you so much.

Q: CJT is up 35% since I bought in early 2017. If the stock drops, of course so too would my gain. What is your advice on a stop limit sell. Today they are at $62 my cost was $46. A trigger limit of $58 would be 25% gain. A stop at $56.40 would realize 20%. If it fell like a stone past these prices, I would hold on for a rebound.
If it did drop and sell, when should I buy back in? Do you foresee it coming down, historically it’s at its high within pennies.
Thanks, I am new to 5i but am finding it a wealth of information.
John

Q: I have $35,000 total room in our TFSA for my wife and myself, 71 years of age. Together we have 60 equities in our Income portfolios dividend long term investing with a 10 year horizon mostly following the 5i Income portfolio. Not wanting to add new equities should I top to ENB, BCE, UTX. Loblaw, NWC, and SPB to get each up to about 2% weight or follow another venue that you may suggest?
I also have a five year GIC ladder in place, cash resource, and defined pension. I feel that with XGD at 1.82% weight I do not need to add to it.
Thank you
Stanley

Q: LNR is obtaining $100 mln in grants from federal and provincial govs. What caught my attention was this : "It also said the grants will support a Linamar innovation centre focused on technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and collaborative robotics". Do you have any insights beyond this press release on what LNR is planing to do or what it has done so far in this area? How do they compare to Magna in this area?
Q: Hi,
I have 2 questions:
1) What is your opinion on Apple and Amazon's current stock price? Is it too overvalued (to buy)?
2) What do you think the impact of the new $14 minimum wage in Ontario will be on the food industry, particularly, on Premium Brand Holdings?
Thank you

Q: I own alot of shares in this company outside any tax sheltered plan. I have lost over 20% and am considering selling to take the loss against next years taxes. I realize the company has had alot of turnover in the last month, but it just seems dead in the water. Any thoughts on continuing to own or would you sell and buy something else?

Q: Looking for an entry point for a purchase of Aurora Cannabis (intending to likely exit before July, or in the event of a Constellation-style buy-in). What would your $ buy point potentially be, in light of the Cannimed situation. And where could you see this stock by July considering the current frenzy around this industry
