Q: Hello 5i team,
Which passive lowest cost ETF would you recommend to proxy the following investments: S&P/TSX, S&P500, MSCI EAFE, MSCI Emerging markets, Canadian bond market, US bond market, US High yield debt, Emerging market debt?
What weightings would recommend for the average 54 year old among the previously mentioned ETFs?
Which 3 Canadian growth companies would you recommend to add, to spice it up?

Q: Hey guys,
I am a big believer in a healthy corporate culture being one of the keys to running a successful business long term. Having strong leadership, as well as a desire by employees to come to work and be proud of being part of the company, and a management team that is focused on the long term and not quarterly results or analyst expectations.
Do you know any canadian companies that meet or exceed this criteria?

Q: In the past, when asked what the optimal geographic allocation is for the 'typical' Canadian investor with a long time horizon, 5i has variably replied 50/30/20 Cdn/US/Intl and 50/40/10 Cdn/US/Intl. Does this answer change if one considers the Canadian 'dividend-focused' investor, where the dividend tax credit would be a significant consideration? For this type of investor, would a higher allocation to Canadian equities be acceptable/preferable? If so, what would you consider to be a prudent 'upper limit' (percentage-wise) for the Canadian portion of one's total equity exposure? How would you allocate the balance between US and Intl. equities? Thank you.

Q: Can you comment on QBR in relation to its prospects related to its redemption notice of outstanding 4.125% convertible unsecured subordinated debentures due October 15, 2018. It had good results recently and I am questioning whether there are better alternatives such as Transcontinental.
Kirkland Lake and gold have recently lost their lustre ad momentum. In light of the political chaos globally, is this a hold or can you suggest other options in the mining space?

Q: I have a question about MSI. I have held MSI for some time and have a significant capital gain. I am currently wondering whether I should be selling some/all of the position based on its high valuation, lack of dividend increases and fairly static stock price. However, I am attracted to its potential stability in a down market and the overall "steady eddy" nature of the business.
May I have your thoughts?

Q: Hi 5i Team,
I had to dump TCEHY for a 15% loss today after riding it down from the highs based on continued negative volatility with the stock. I am thinking of buying some of your favorites to replace it, with stable growth in mind. I am looking for companies that have also pulled back recently, and that you consider a good buying opp today. I am looking at initiating a position in CSU, COV, PBH, and possible ADDING to TSGI as I am now down 20% on that one and am thinking that averaging down may be the thing to do here soon. Do you have any other better suggestions or top picks you can suggest? ( I already own TOY, PHO, GSY, FB, BABA, ENB, RHT, HD) Thanks for you input.

Q: I am trying to straighten out my portfolio. I have been buying over the past 2 years based on solid companies that offer a good dividend and dividend growth for my retirement (with the exception of mining and gold stocks, which I hold for fear of inflation). I am not sure of when I will retire, but some time in the next 5-10 years. I am fine forgoing growth for security. I do not wish to change my holdings when I retire.

Could you please review my holdings? I have listed them by sector (including the lopsided distribution figures), then in descending order of current market value. Do you have suggestion for those I should sell, or others I should buy to have a solid portfolio of buy and forget dividend income stocks for retirement? Suggestions of sector weights would be great as well.

I know I am asking a lot, so please deduct question points as you see fit.

Q: Hi, could I please have your current opinion on LULU. They had a good quarter and technically the stock will breakthrough to new highs with a few more % gain. But as you said in the past results have been inconsistent. Do you see guidance and consistency possibly improving, or just a good quarter followed by uncertainty for the next one?
