Q: Ever since I started investing roughly ten years ago, I've always enjoyed trying to identify companies that could become acquisition targets. Could you please name five companies (TSX only) that you believe have a high likelihood of being acquired or taken private in this current environment? Thank You

Q: Nasdaq is now down about 28% from its' high in Nov. Based on the past history of corrections/bear markets, etc, what would you guess is the likelyhood of it going past 35% ??? Thanks Jim

Q: What's your take on Brookfield Business Partners? Its stock value has been just about cut in half YTD and is currently at 7 PE which seems stupidly cheap. But I know Brookfield's entities can't always really be judged on PE multiples Why has this stock been hit as if it's a high-flying tech? And if the market is deeply undervaluing it might Brookfield buy it out as it did its real estate entity?

Q: IBI Group appears to have it troubles behind it. Earning ratios have been comparable to WSP and its debt in now very manageable. It trades at half the valuation multiple of WSP and as valuation multiple are contracting do you think it wise to divest of WSP and invest in IBI Group.

Thank you for your response to my question. I am sorry if part of the question was not clear.
I was not looking for a choice between SHOP and TOI, or NVDA/QCOM over others. What would perform better between now and the end of seasonal strength end Feb 2023? Tech (SHOP and TOI) ) or Energy and commodities? Growth ( NVDA and CRWD) or Value (QCOM and MSFT)?
In your mind, is there a clear winner that would justify a switch from one to the other and is it too late to sell and make the switch?
Nothing is for sure. Just your opinion.

Q: Rogers' ambition to purchase Shaw may have the side-effect of more-than-doubling Quebecor's wireless footprint. Assuming this occurs, does QBR.B become more attractive as an investment, or does the prospect of even more debt outweigh this windfall growth? In this connection, it's interesting that the company has already paid for substantial 5G spectrum.

Q: I have a question about portfolio allocation for a pre-retirement investor. I have 5 years before retirement, and when retired, I will have to rely on my investments only as I have no public sector or corporate pensions. While my current investments seem sufficient for retirement, I am concerned about inflation and bear markets, so portfolio allocation is very important to me.

My current sector allocation is 10% energy, 10% health, 20% financials, 10% industrials, 15% tech, 5% telecom, 5% utilities, 5% materials, 5% consumer staples, 10% consumer discretionary, 5% real estate.
My geo allocation is 33% Canada, 60% USA, 5% developed, 2% developing. I currently have about 25% in cash that will be moved to short-term bonds when interest rates stabilize.

Do you consider this sector and geo allocation reasonable? What allocation would you recommend for a typical pre-retirement investor with a relatively low tolerance to risk?

Q: Are there any indications that 5i through your analysis is aware of (Bloomberg Terminal etc.) that the buyout may not happen in the coming days?

Q: Aritibe came out with a report, I believe today, with a sale of one of their drugs. Sale takes place over 3 years, I believe. I see the market took no notice of this, but I'm wondering what your opinion is.

UGE had a Q report, last week, the stock has gone down, so I assume the market was not impressed. What is your opinion.

NDVA the company appears to be doing very well, so again please comment.

I did check the investment questions, but none of these companies have been touched on in some time.
