Q: Could you explain why banks are not doing phenomenally well given the interest rate increases?

I understand that it may lead to fewer loans and some defaulted loans, but surely floating-rate loans and the higher interest of new loans would far out-profit these.

On that note, would you recommend locking in a floating rate mortgage at this point?

Q: I have held TOY for a number of years while its done nothing and I am considering a switch to ATZ. Before I throw in the towel on TOY, I would like to check a few things with you:
1) what are the current and projected P/E's for each stock?
2) what are the projected growth rates for each stock?
3) I believe TOY has a rock solid balance sheet, do you have any concerns about ATZ's balance sheet and ability to weather a possible recession? If so, ewhat are the concerns?
4) On a scale of 1-10 what are the chances of each company still being around in 5-10 years?
5) which stock has better short term and which has better long term opportunites? 6) would you make the switch?

Q: In some interesting reading sent to my inbox by 5i, one of the articles by Joe Wiggins talked about long or short term investing and I see by the bar graph, if you are a one year investor it was a 55% return and if you left the investment for 10 years, it would be a 15% return. From what I see, it looks like you are better off being short term. Maybe you can interpret this better than I. There was a lot of heavy reading involved. Thank you,

Q: Good morning. I am underweight Materials and Industrials and want to add to my holdings in those sectors. I considering adding some or all of the above as new positions to my RRIF. Do you consider it is a good time to be adding these companies to my portfolio or do you have other suggestions in the Material and Industrial sector that you consider better to purchase at this time. Please take as many credits as you consider appropriate.

Q: It appears that Transcontinental published pretty bad numbers for its Q1FY2023 and the market has reacted quite negatively and the drop has been brutal. In your opinion, how bad are these results? In their press release for the quarter they mentioned the printing segment drop considerably. Do you see other problems showing up? They also mentioned they are continuing paying the dividend but in your educated opinion, given these results, is it realistic for them to keep doing so or is it more an eventuality they will cutting it, akin to what happened with AQN. Is it a SELL or HOLD? -- My guess is, it's not a BUY.

Q: I hold all three companies , all bought when share prices were higher. Comments and rankings on these three please. All have shown some gains recently. Are they worth holding for improved macro conditions and eventual recovery? All three are in a taxable account, so should any be sold for tax loss?

Q: hi, can you please advise (if not already asked) analysis on these companies most recent 1/4 and FY results.
AT seems to have had increased revenues but profits are lacking vs comparable results, IMO.
PXT looks like it is firing on all cylinders (political risk aside) and the increased dividend seems to reflects that.
TOY seems to have mixed results again.

Any released forward looking statements concern you?

Are any of these adds/buys in today's market? I own about 2% each of all 3 in a diversified account.

Q: Would appreciate your view on Aritzia and its trajectory relative to LULU. Are we in early innings with ATZ with Lulu more mature. Possible in 5 years to have atleast 50% of Lulu market cap? The growth strategy seems sound and their stores are always jammed.

Q: I am interested in establishing a 2% position in the Consumer Defensive space, and I am debating between Loblaws and Premium Brands. This position is meant to be held for an extended time period of several years. Which company would be better positioned to provide me a substantial return, and if asked to choose, towards which one might you lean? Q: Hi team
the last question on this company by another person was in early Jan 2023
the acquisition or potential acquisition of IAA was not a most welcome news

he/she was told to wait until the dust settled abit


now that we are in March, I wonder if the situation or outlook for RBA .to has changed, it pays a dividend and looking for a long term hold for dividend and some capital appreciation

if not recommended at this stage, another similar name in Cdn market would be appreciated;

I've done very well lately, large part thanks to you. Now I am preparing to take some off the table. Plan on investing part into a 1 yr term @ 5.65% which I figure is pretty good. I am also looking for names (stocks or ETFs) which generate good cash flow and support high sustainable dividends. Can you give me 3 names (Canada & US) that you think deserve consideration? Preferably minimal debt if possible please.
