Q: Given that we are seeing increased inflation and many are predicting a recession in the next 12 to 18 months, what would be your investing strategy, what fundamentals should we look for, i.e. Earnings, or?? What sectors would you suggest for safety and what sectors should we avoid?

Q: Hi,
Is there a good argument to buy a reit or a similar security as opposed to buying a rental property? I know that labour involved in maintaining, commissions involved in buying and selling can be high when it comes to buying a rental property. But in the last few years the capital gains from rentals have been high especially in the GTA area..Are the returns comparable? Thanks.

Regards,

Shyam

Q: Hello Peter and team,
Do you see BCE and Telus as over value territory as it seems investors are moving to safety driving up share prices.. I was thinking of selling some and buy back later time (i know it may seem market timing, but they have run up alot). If I did sell, what are the alternatives? Thanks for the explanation on BAM; the market call commentary was harsh. Lastly, would you consider Enerplus a good buy and is PE a good way to look at oil companies or is it mostly on cash flow? Thanks very much

If you could get a list of the prices of 10 Canadian stocks 5 years from now, which ones would you pick? Let's say stocks with a min market cap of roughly $1 billion Cdn.

Q: J's comment on March 30, about the small ADR fee charged, is interesting and I wonder if he would elaborate, e.g. how does he determine the fee, does it apply to all ADRs, etc. (This topic may be suited to the forums, if J could be redirected.)

Q: greetings - I'm thinking of harvesting some NTR gains. Other than the financial sector ( I have RBC, SLF, BAM, GSY, BNS) and energy ( have CNQ, SU, ENB and TU) which Canadian companies do you regard with the strongest conviction these days for long term holds. Dividends are always nice but not a stopper. Thanks for a steady hand on the tiller. Al
