Q: Hi 5i,
Doing a little re-balancing and would sure appreciate your help.

Could you identify your current top 2 Canadian picks for each of:
Consumer Cyclical,
Consumer Defensive,
Financials,
Industrials, and
Technology
for placement in an RSP where reasonable income, growth and safety are sought after

and your top 2 Healthcare picks for a TFSA where growth is the main goal.

Thanks a ton and please deduct as you see fit.

Q: Hi what are the chances that any of these names will be going to the capital markets and issue more stock?
They are all doing very well,so they might be tempting to issue more stocks.
How would you rate those for stock as a buy right now?

Q: Hi 5i team,

In your last updated report on Spin Master (TOY) you had indicated....OCT 13, 2020 - The company still shows long-term promise but management has missed on estimates more frequently than we would like. Meanwhile, margins have been deteriorating over the last two years. Rating downgraded to 'B'.
At that time you had downgraded the stock.
Have the margins improved over the last several quarters since this report to change/improve your view? Was there any management change since then to improve things, ie less missed forecasts?
There are some potential catalysts upcoming (Paw Patrol movie release, holiday season shopping, some toy news articles are pegging Peek-a Roo as the 'It' toy to buy this year (similar to Hatchimals toy of the year), etc,).
Could this be enough to get this stock back to its' glory days coupled with improving margins? Is the stock fairly valued these days or on the cheaper side?
(Motley Fool site has been mentioning this stock several times in the last month.)
I held this stock a few years ago and did well with it. Perhaps time to buy again?

Cheers,
Steve

Q: Hi 5iresearch team

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being certainly, how likely do you think a stagflation scenario will happen in the US economy?

Second question, what types of investment will likely win in stagflation (gold, certain stocks, bonds, real estate, cash … etc)?

Third question: can you recommend 3 Cdn and 3 US stocks that you think will do well in stagflation? Can you please rank them if possible?

Thank you for your great service, I really enjoy reading your answers everyday in the Q&A section.

Q: Above our securities of about 45 I hold that for quite some time are terrible to look at. Which ones should I sell and replace with your picks that are doing quite well and would you sell them at the price they are now or would you pick a higher price and put them in for a few days? Thanks again

Q: Good morning,

My plan is to purchase $50K of BX:US in my US$ non registered account but have insufficient US$ in my US$ non registered account to complete the transaction.

To save on the currency exchange cost, I'm thinking of purchasing approx $60K of ENB.CA and then journal the stock to my US$ non registered account.
Once ENB:CA has been journaled to my US$ non registered account, I would then sell the ENB:US stock and purchase BX:US for a long term hold.

Question1: Is ENB:CA a good candidate for this strategy?
Question 2: What are your thoughts on purchasing BX:US for a long term hold?
Thank you for your insight on this.

What is the value and signification of the Morningstar rating of stocks ? How is it arrived at ? Does it reflect the stock value, safety, potential, volatility ?

How do you use it in your recommandations of stocks, in your growth, income, balanced portfolios ?

Thank you for contributing to my financial education,

Q: You recently said in an answe to Gerry’s question that you didn’t see transcontinental as a growth stock. Please don’t take this as a criticism, but I remember a couple of years ago or so, that you recommended it because of the promise it’s new packaging acquisition offered. At that time I understood that you thought it had some wind in it’s sails. Just trying to understand if you think that this didn’t pan out. Or, if perhaps you offered it as an income stock at that time.
Thanks as always for your great assistance
