Q: Good morning!

AFRM aside, could you rank 3 or 4 of favorite US based IPOs so far in 2021, that you’re watching and briefly let us know what you see and like.

thx, Mark

Q: what are your thoughts on thermo fisher at current prices for a long term hold. I would like some health care exposure without drug specific concerns.
It seems to me that Thermo is the Magna of pharma and biotechs is that a fair comparison ?
As they produce all the products necessary and even produce drugs in small batches for some pharma companies.

Q: Hi 5i,
I currently use my TFSA as my primary investment vehicle. As such, I've been trying to keep it as diversified as possible which has resulted in purchase of both growth stock and dividend stocks across various sectors. Examples of the dividend stocks include: TD, FTS, and T.

I am close to maxing out my contribution for the TFSA and now find myself in a bit of a pickle as I want to move out the dividend stocks in favor of growth names.

My plan now involves:
- selling the dividend positions in the TFSA
- opening a new RRSP account and re-buy these same dividend stocks
- redeploy the 'freed-up' cash within my TFSA into growth names

1.) Are there obvious pitfalls you can see with this strategy? I can't see any issues other than being a little clunky in execution.
2.) What are your current top-5 growth names (regardless of sector)

Thanks,
Kyle

Q: hello 5i:
We've been looking at adding one of these two to our health care sector, but if I have it right (please comment), AND is as much transportation (Industrial) as it is Health Care, and NBLY is as much Consumer Discretionary as it is health care. Am I correct and which one do you see as having more upside?
thanks

Q: Hi 5i,
So grateful for your very quick and frank intervention in response to my request for counselling this morning as I grappled with the irrational urge to sell ATZ 'because it is up'. I've printed your answer and it's pinned to my wall for reference when that urge strikes again regarding another name sometime in the future, as it inevitably will.
And with regard to finding another name where that urge might arise, can you identify 2 or 3 (regardless of sector) that check some or all of the boxes you highlighted with ATZ - strong momentum in sales and earnings (not just sales, I notice), broker upgrades, positive surprises on earnings estimates, US growth (nice but not essential for me) online sales, rising market cap and near immunity to the pandemic? I realize there may be very few, if any, that meet all those criteria, but do you see any that come close?
Thanks and thanks again.

Q: My grandson has been financially responsible and soon to be mortgage free. He has made some investments with with a financial advisor who has him in high MER mutual funds. He doesn't feel competent to have a self-directed stock account but he would like to invest using ETFs. Can you recommend where I might start in searching for an advisor who would be willing to invest in ETFs for a relatively small ($40,000) account to start. My grandson lives in Greater Vancouver.
With appreciation,
Ed

Q: Hi 5i,

Thanks for your great service over the last two years. I’m very happy with how I’m doing based on your insights.

My portfolio analytics suggest I am underweight in consumer cyclicals and consumer defensive.

Please recommend your top 3 US buys in each area.

Also, please suggest your top 3 US buys right now regardless of sector.

Q: I'm interested in these ETF themes, how would you rank them long term? Do you see any overlap between ICLN and LIT? And if I wanted to go the individual stock route instead of the ETF, what would be your top two individual stock picks within each ETF (either cad or us listed). Thank you!
