Q: How do you decide that a stock is too expensive to buy? DHX seems like a great growth stock, but it's trailing PE is about 100. Kelso also has a really high trailing PE. Doesn't this make them highly risky if they miss their numbers going forward? This is more a request for your philosophy on picking expensive, high growth stocks than about DHX or Kelso specifically. Thanks for your comments.

Q: Good Morning Peter, Ryan, and Team,
Great blog regarding Tim Hortons / Burger King. Very informative and well written.
At this point in time what companies would comprise your top five growth names (in order of conviction) for inclusion into an TFSA Account ??? Holding period of a minimum of 3-5 years and they would be added to complement slower growing, "safer" holdings. (i.e. BAM.A, BNS, CGX, etc.)
Thank you very much. DL

Q: Hello, I would like to know what is the single best way to calculate the growth of a company. As well, do you like to see the growth rate higher than its PE multiple? Lastly, how many quarters of growth would need to be analyzed before its determined a company is a pure growth company?
Cheers

Q: Could you please comment on Biosyent's (RX) earnings released this morning? They look outstanding to me but I do not know what the market is expecting. And in the "outstanding" category 51 is the best!
Q: ATS automation (ATA) reached a 52 week high of $16.56 on July 9, and then fell to a 52 week low of $12.00 on August 19.
Do you know of any explanation for the 27% drop?
Thanks for your help,

Q: Hi, regarding Questor, I am down substantially from my original 4% position in my diversified portfolio. There is another 6% drop today and I know you do not agree with averaging down, but I feel a need to do something. Would you bail and sell or just hold for better dayts. Thanks
Q: Can I get your take on CXS's earnings today. I'm down 20% over the last year, is it better to cut my losses and re-deploy the cash to one of ELW, BAD, AYA or PRW? I have 20+ yrs before I need these funds from my TFSA. Thanks for the great service you provide!
Q: What is your opinion on the results of ATS Automation Tooling Systems (ATA). Thanks.
Q: Team,
Looking for comments on CXR, seems like a massive miss. I purchased a half position earlier in the year, it has since doubled into a full position (up 130% on it) less whatever it opens up this morning at... portfolio is balanced... buy / sell / hold moving forward?
Thanks!

Q: CXR. Going by the numbers expected which you posted earlier this is a HUGE miss, is it not?
Q: Hello,
I was wondering for a TFSA (40K) for maximum growth what stocks would you propose. I don't envision needing the funds in the next few years (I have the model portfolio in a non taxable account).
I know that you specialize in Canadian equities, but if you would have to select a few US growth stocks (30k taxable account) what would you select.
Thank you so much.
