Q: I own shares in Shopify, now at a small loss. I was thinking about dumping them and moving into Baba, which has also gone up quite a bit but may be poised for more explosive gains in the future as far as I can tell. I would be interested and grateful for your comment on this proposed trade. I realize I'm trying to chase gains here. Thank you in advance.

Q: My 22 year old son is a great saver with a long term horizon. His current investments are as follows and he holds approx $3,000 - $4,000 in each name:

$40,000 in a balanced TFSA with the following stocks: BCE, CHE.UN, CPH, ECN, KXS, MRE, MAXR, NA, PTG, SHOP, TOY and WEF

$12,000 in a Cash account with: OTC, PBH and SIS

He has another $10,000 to invest in his cash account. What 2 or 3 stocks would you suggest he adds - either to increase existing holdings or to establish new positions? To make it a "teachable moment" can you please give the rationale for your suggestions.

I have been a subscriber for a year now and my portfolio has never done better. I recently renewed for a 2 year period and never make a move with any of our family's investments without checking with you first. What a FANTASTIC service. Thank you

Q: Good morning,
Been looking at a weekly report at RBC on this industry and read this morning that payments world wide where 85% cash and cheque 10 years ago. Today 83% cash and cheque they estimate 7T$ opportunity for growth!?
There is a long list of players sharing the business.
What is your take on it and could you provide 2 of your favorites (each)in the US and Canada.
Thanks again for making your special skills available thru this channel.

Q: Hi,
I have a fairly balanced long term outlook portfolio. Many of the stocks are safe(r) growth stocks with all drips being used. I am looking to deploy a few thousand $$ for a cheaper, riskier, high growth stock. What would your few (3-5) favorites be for this? Please rank them in order of preference and likely potential growth.

Thanks

Q: Another contract announcement for a million dollars. Does this together with the other recent .75M contract get them out of the penalty box?

Q: I have held these two stocks for several years, primarily for the dividend. The recent 'coup' which replaced the LIQ board, has nothing for the stock. And STB, as you have noted, is mostly doing nothing. Can you suggest two growth stocks that I might consider as replacements? My timeline is up to 10 years. Thanks

Q: Hi 5i team,

I trimmed a couple of stocks recently from gains (thank you for that) and was wondering if you could give me a couple stocks to buy now for a 5-10+ year hold with medium to high risk? Thanks!!

My portfolio is as follows with pretty balanced positions:
ATB, BNS, KXS, CSU, BYD, SIS, PHO, TOY, DOO, SHOP, NFI, CSH.UN, GUD, SLF, PBH, GSY, SJ, RRX, and CRH.

Q: Any guess on hypothetical FTC settlement if SHOP were to face similar claims as Herbalife did with $200M US settlement. Any guess on what impact may have on shares based on relative revenue, and market cap of each? Recently sold SHOP from 4% down to 2% for 3rd time I think, and hate sticking around with shorts, but still more than a double if goes down to Citron's $60US target. Would you sell off 2% or stick around.

Q: In your recent answer regarding 3 growth stocks in a TFSA you chose KXS,PBH,SIS. I wonder if you could elaborate on your thoughts about how you chose these. PKI, as an example seems, to have a good growth profile over the next 2 years and pays a nice dividend. Why not choose it.
I used the numbers provided by RBC Direct Investing below.
Thanks Mike

kxs Crnt P/e 1Yr Ern Gwth 2nd Yr Divi
KXS 121 37% 18% 0
PBH 35 42% 31% 1.61%
SIS 40 22% 50% 2.62%
PKI 65 37% 66% 4.5%
