Q: Hi Peter and Staff

I realize P/E doesn’t seem to matter in growth tech companies - However I cant help but wonder how CSU and SHOP stock up in terms of P/E and Cash Flow from earnings per share both on a trailing 12 months basis and a future 12 months basis

I can’t help but wonder how SHOP can be same market cap as TD bank in terms of distributable cash flow per share regardless of whether they actually chose to do it

Also will your answer take into account the many stock options that employees have and must be surely to exercise

Thanks for all you do
Dennis

Q: Hi,
SHOP has been a great performer for my portfolio. I reduced my position by approximately 40% yesterday. (April 21), thinking that the stock looked “topped out”. To my surprise it continued its uptrend today. I like to term this stock a “monster”. It’s unbelievable they way it’s moving up. Is this move sustainable and do you think we could see $1000 in the near future ? Also what is really driving this stock.... could you share your thoughts ?

Thank you and be safe .

Q: I recently sold Shopify at a huge gain, as it had become more than 30% of my portfolio. Thank you for the recommendation. It was in my non-registered account, so I have a substantial capital gain. I have a lot of room in my TFSA, so I am going to move a majority of the proceeds there to avoid future capital gains. I will buy back into Shopify if the price retreats. Can you recommend any stocks, understanding that there is higher risk, that have a similar potential to Shopify? Can be Canadian or US. I have some Lightspeed already. Also, for future reference, did I make a reasonable move or should I have taken a different approach? Thanks

Q: Hi,

Which would you buy for the long term or is there a better choice? I'm surprised at the low beta of both ATVI and TTWO as I don't like volatility.
Would you wait or buy now?

Q: Hi 5iTeam - I am interested in buying shares in an online gaming company. My first choice would probably be TSGI but since it is amalgamating with Flutter I would need to go through a broker to either buy or sell in the future. Since it very difficult to connect with a customer service representative over the phone these days (understandably) do you have any other suggestions for three or four companies in this field that trade on any of the markets in Canada or the U.S. They don't have to be companies with pristine balance sheets but at least ones that have decent fundamentals and management along with a good chance of coming out on the plus side in the next few years. Thanks.

Q: Between these 3 stocks which one would you have the most faith in and in what order would you rate them. Volatility is not an issue for me and I'm looking at a 5 plus year time frame.

Q: I would like to add a mix of income stocks to my portfolio (for a 5-10yr hold) which has been primarily growth oriented and comprised of a number of 5i’s BE Model Portfolio names.
a) Could you please rank the above listed stocks for dividends with preference for long term yoield of at least 4-5%, and growth back to YTD highs over the next year or two. Moderate to high risk is okay.
b) List any particular concerns you see with any of them.
c) Your suggestions for 1-2 better names in the current market to represent sectors such as utilities, financials, Telecoms, Reits, and ndustrials would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your wisdom and guidance over these unprecedented times.

Q: Hi there,

There are some high quality names that have not been beat down in the downturn (ie: KXS, DSG, CSU etc) which have not participated as much in the rebound, which makes sense - but if someone was looking for high quality names that have been beat down that would present a good entry point and a great opportunity at recovering and outperforming in a rebound, what would you recommend looking at?

Thanks!

Q: What are some of your favorite US growth names right now? I am a younger investor with some money to deploy. I have a 20+ year time horizon. I am not too worried about sector allocation due to having a defined benefits pension when I eventually retire (20+ years).

I am also wondering what US stocks 5i staff are currently buying and why.

Thanks for all your advice. I read the questions daily. Your support through these tough times (my first as an investor) has been beyond insightful and finding I am getting my financial education through your words of wisdom and advice. I keep speaking highly of you to my friends looking to get into investing and am encouraging they subscribe to your service as it is beyond exceptional.

Thanks for all that you all do! Hope you and yours are safe and healthy during these tough times.

Q: Hi folks, comments on Q results for Aphria...looks like actual profit of +.02 per share, and a beat on Revenue. Starting to see the many failures in Pot Sector, but Aphria has $500M cash, and appears to be 1 of the few leaders in Pot land. Raymond James called a bottom in Pot sector in Q1/20, stabalization in Q2 & 3 with bankruptcies/mergers/buyouts etc...and the few remaining companies start to thrive in Q4/20. Do you agree with their thesis...and do you think Aphria will be one of the survivors?? Thanks as always & stay safe, jb Piedmont QC

Q: Wanted to ask your thoughts on this name. Keep reading advertising will be impacted but longer term their model seems to hold weight. Being isolated, many hours is spent on various streaming platforms along with web surfing. Also, no one is really focused on the election but I suspect once covid19 has peaked and stabilized it will become a larger focus driving an up take for TTD.
