Q: Between AEM and BTO which stock would you buy for one year hold?
-
Alcoa Corporation (AA $59.16)
-
Rio Tinto Plc (RIO $93.41)
-
Valmont Industries Inc. (VMI $473.68)
-
Reliance Inc. (RS $353.27)
Q: Peter; I’ve gone over your previous answers on AA and obviously it’s not your fav- but I’m just looking at the 5 year chart and see it maybe bottomed- 5 year high up in the $90’s - won’t it participate with a declining USD ? Your thoughts please. Just a small flyer .
Thanks.

Q: What is your take on the MOU between SQM and Codelco announced today.
This past April Chile announced it was shifting to a "state model" pertaining to minerals.
Is it time to sell SQM or hang tight.
Thank you

Wheaton Precious Metals Corp. (WPM $185.90)

Q: I want to get into gold stocks and have always preferred Franco Nevada in the past. Should I look at buying some of it now, and what other companies would you recommend to complement it if I do? (In the same sector) Thanks

Q: Greetings:
If you were establishing a position in gold miners, which would it be with reasons. B2 has hardly come off it's low with a nice dividend, Why? Must be a reason. I have been following gold closely for 50 years, and usually it amounts to no more than the rate of inflation, even though people like your old boss Eric was calling for $5,000.00 gold 15 years ago. However, one shouldn't knock all that hot air because it made him many millions.
Thanks, Ben.

-
Global X Uranium Index ETF (HURA $61.34)
-
Sprott Physical Uranium Trust Trust Units (U.U $20.58)
-
Sprott Uranium Miners ETF (URNM $68.60)
Q: Is it a good time to invest in Uranium? If yes, please recommend C$ and/or US$ etfs or stock(s) to do this.
Q: I am reading about the benefits of adding commodities to a portfolio (PIMCO /Ibbotson 2006 study). Low correlation with other assets, positive correlation to inflation, optimal allocation from 9 to 29%.
Any overarching comments on the pros and cons of commodities in a portfolio?
Can you recommend how a regular DYI investor might try to add exposure to this area?… an ETF? Any specific securities you recommend taking a closer look at? I don’t want to be buying pork belly contracts!
Lastly, suggestion on ranges of how much commodities should represent in a portfolio? A conservative investor would be X% while an an aggressive investor would be Y%.

Q: Can please comment on the weakness of CCO over the last 2 days.
Thank you

Q: I saw this comment today.
We expect that its royalty interest will be upheld in international arbitration. Although not imminent, this royalty which accounts for 22 per cent of its net asset value represents excellent upside optionality once Franco Nevada and operator First Quantum Minerals has its day in court.
What are your thoughts on:
1) Has the market basically written off this royalty stream in FNV's stock price at this point?
2) Great buy at this point given bonus upside down the road when things hopefully resolve and they recover something.
3) Would you sell WPM to buy FNV given this? Though WPM has higher potential returns given its silver exposure i think.

Q: Hi 5i,
I hold above stocks 2%, 1.5% and less than 0,5% of fortitude. Thinking of selling Fortitude to add to my now decreased position in FNV. Which do you think has more upside? If even, given recent FNV decline and lower risk, I might go for more FNV as I am becoming more conservative. I am OK to take some higher risk given Fortitude is a small position.
Your thoughts please on FNV and Fortitude and suggested strategy.
Thank you.

Q: I still have my small position in Lucara Diamonds and it still a diaster. CEO was replaced a couple of months ago and the former CEO came back. Under the former CEO Lucara made an agreement with an Antwerp gem polisher (HB)where they would send there large special diamons, which the Karowe mine in Botswara often find, to HB for polsihing and cutting. Lucara would then get cash flow from the finished products, (potentially higher margin and more steady cash flow). Well the new CEO wants to end that agreement. The open pit mine is still profitable but the development of the under ground mine has hit snags (namely water filtration in the raised shafts) and the finish date has been pushed back another year. What 5i could help me with is a better understanding of the outlook for diamond prices. Every where I look for on outlook on diamond pricing requires a subscription and my position is simply too small to warrant paying a subscription. In the end, should I just dump this dud or hang on a while longer (It is in a TFSA so no tax benefit.)?

Q: As the FED has signaled up to 3 rate cuts in 2024 do you recommend having 5% exposure to gold stocks? If so, would companies KGC, GOLD, or OR be ones to add to a portfolio? Thanks!
Q: Can you comment on EDR, OSK, LGO, I noticed these 3 stocks have not gone up lately while other silver, gold and materials stocks have risen. What is their cash positions and cash flow? Do any of the 3 need financing soon? Thanks, and deduct whatever credits you feel is appropriate.
Q: Can you give an update on TLO? It has been on a steady decline for the past year. Could you speculate on the reasons for the fall? They have had some recent positive news. You had previously mentioned it had some big backers, so I wonder if those backers are still holding. Wondering if it is time to cut this loose or wait for a rebound when central banks cut rates.
