Q: August 2020 Gold hit $2034 / ounce. Agnico Eagle traded at $110.

Today Gold hits $2014 and Agnico Eagle is trading around $75.

Fundamentally, is the company stronger or weaker when comparing these two prices in time. Or is the disconnect in price more just market sentiment about gold vs crypto etc? I loved Kirkland Lake so the merger should be viewed as a positive.

Q: Already hold TECK.B and looking to add another Cdn base metals company. Considering FM, LUN and ERO. FM seems to be trading at roughly double the multiple of earnings and EBITDA compared to LUN, ERO and TECK.B. Two questions.

(1) Why does FM trade at such a high multiple compared to the others?

(2) Please rank FM, LUN and ERO on a scale of 1-10 for a desirable add to a diversified portfolio that is a low on base metals exposure.

Q: Do you think that, while this unfortunate war carries on, industrials will continue to rise?
I read that gold, grain (wheat?), copper, paladium and nickel have reached new highs.
If so, I'd be grateful to know what stocks you would prefer to own to cover some or all of these, plus an assessment of the key metrics for your view.
Thank you for your highly appreciated viewpoints.

Q: Hi,
I am seeing what appears to be a surge in copper and wondering if this might be an opportunity to invest in either an ETF or individual stock. Given the current market, which would you prefer? Risk tolerance is fairly high, but I have little diversification in the materials sector other than GDX and SLX. Most of my available cash is in US dollars, within tax sheltered accounts. Thanks in advance for your sage advice!

Q: Hi 5i team, I'm looking for suggestions on base metal miners. What are your favourite Canadian companies, particularly ones leaning towards copper. A pure copper play, maybe a small/mid-cap, suggestion would also be appreciated. Pete in Calgary.

Q: In today's Wall Street Journal (Heard on the Street column), it suggested that one of the consequences of the blocking of Russian Central Bank reserves is that governments may rethink their position that US dollar or all money as an asset and will likely increase their gold holdings in a material way as the only true store of value.
If this is a trend then gold and gold shares should make great investments.

Q: Hi 5i,

Thank you for the great work. What are your top names in mining/materials today?

I hold CNQ, Enbridge and Parkland right now and want to increase my natural resource exposure. I am looking at Tourmaline on the gas side, and looking for broader natural resource ideas.

Q: I'm loaded up on AEM and am looking at adding to other positions. I've got BTO, GCM, OR and MMX and thinking to add to BTO or GCM as I like the P/E's and yield.

How do you rate these? Are there any others to consider?

*I may have accidentally submitted this question before finishing writing it?

Thanks!

Q: I have been tracking the iron ore price since July 2021 when it was $213 and LIF share price was $49.61. Iron Ore hit a low in December below $95 and has since been steadily tracking higher (above $150 for a couple of days in Feb) and was $146 yesterday. On Feb 23 Rio Tinto reported record financial results and declared a dividend of $10.40 (79% payout). LIF will receive a significant dividend and royalty from Rio Tinto and they usually pass this through to shareholders. LIF shares closed at $48.61 today the highest they have traded at since July 2021. Your thoughts on the amount of the dividend LIF will pay out to shareholders and the future of iron ore prices. Thank you
