Q: I am looking to increase my allocation to the Materials and Real Estate sectors. My current exposure is only through various index ETFs. Can you provide 3 companies for each sector that trade on the TSX to have a balanced exposure?

Q: I hold the above 2 in the basic materials sector. Both are involved in copper production with Teck about to increase its exposure to the metal materially by year end. Copper is known as an economic indicator and the worry was in late 2021 that a drop below $4.20 would indicate a worsening economy. Currently, the price is $4.57 with a high in 2022 of almost $5.00 so as of now the economic signal has not turned negative where copper is concerned, however the inversion of the yield curve indicates otherwise. With both of these stocks at or near 52 week highs would it be wise to sell now before copper turns down before economic conditions worsen?

Q: We have a 10oz gold bullion that was given to us as a wedding present four decades ago. How can we sell it to get the best price? We can try jewelry shops. Go to the banks. Advertise through news/social media. Any other places you can suggest? If we do sell, will there be capital gains or income to report? Thanks a bullion!

Q: With the surge in commodity prices I bought positions in BHP and RIO. My portfolio is well diversified and mainly in value supported by yield. BHP and RIO combined only represent 3.3% of the total portfolio.
What concerns me at this point is the current noise about a potential recession later this year. That could hit metals and minerals fairly hard, particularly if the recession, if it happens, is worldwide. Spending on infrastructure construction as well as the demand for manufactured products could decrease substantially.
My first question is whether you support this scenario of a late 2022 recession. My second, obviously, is whether it's time to trim, sell, or just chill and ride out any downturn in the economy as I generally do. I do like the dividends of both RIO and BHP although they could easily be cut.

Q: It appears that the environmental approvals are forthcoming to proceed with building this mine.
$185m in debt financing is in place and additional funds will come about from equity financing.
I suspect that the sp will trade sideways until the equity portion is finalized. Your thoughts about this suspicion please.
If you believe in the lassonde curve, is there significant upside with this company. Thank you

Q: I'm thinking of adding LGO and/or CCO to my Material's group. Currently I hold AEM and KRR for an overall 3% weighting. I've been burned on the Material's group in the past so once bitten twice shy as they say. However I can see uranium supply from the "Free World" being in demand beyond any resolution to the war in Europe. LGO seems a more specialized company which maybe stands outside the war crucible. Any thoughts on what to do? I'll still be able to sleep at night with a 6% weighting even though I may wake up at 2:30AM...but I'm doing that anyways!
Thanks,
Perplexed (Jim)
