Q: Based on today’s environment is NTR a sell? The materials sector is pretty diverse, are there two or three CDN companies that you would have a high degree of confidence would outperform just holding XMA for materials exposure? Or would you steer clear of Canada altogether, and if so, applying the same criteria suggest two or three U.S companies that could outperform XLB in the near term.

Q: I have a question about investing in physical gold. Can you please explain the differences between the MNT and PHYS? I noticed that MNT outperforms PHYS and it trades at a premium to NAV while PHYS trades at discount. The expense rates 0.35% vs. 0.41% seems to be close enough to justify the differences in performance and discount..?

Q: Can you explain what is behind the broad move higher in Gold and silver miners? Is it just the price of precious metals? How broad is this move and what, if any, other material sectors are also moving? Thank-you.

Q: Currentlly my portfolio in gold consists of 3 holdings. They are :

AEM - YTD + 20%, 1 YR + 90%

NUGT - YTD + 34% 1YR + 67%

WGX - YTD - 8% N/A

As you can see the weed in the portfolio is wgx.

Question to you is when I prune WGX out of the portfolio should I just put that money into the other 2 holdings or should I add a third that is an elite performer.

What would be the best from a portfolio management perspective and if you decided to add a third what would it be?

Sheldon

PS Don't worry about NUGT I know the ins and out and have made lots of money on these leveraged ETF's like NUGT, QLD, NAIL, etc

Thanks

Q: I am a bit confused why a company with about 25% of its current market cap (40+ million USD cash as per last quarter report) sitting in cash on the balance sheet - with no debt - would raise 10% more equity (just 20 million cad) at a 10% discount to its current price which is already quite cheap… I am scratching my head… I really like this stock/company but now I am questioning management haha. Am I wrong? Thanks

Q: I have two small holdings in the materials sector, EQX (1% of portfolio) and NGT (1.5% of portfolio). I am thinking of consolidating them. NGT is the larger company by far, and has faced some negative investor sentiment recently, but to my knowledge, remains profitable and should perform better in the next several quarters. EQX has had better recent momentum, but is much smaller than NGT. This would be for a longer-term hold.

An alternative strategy would be to sell both and purchase another gold mining company with these funds.

I would appreciate any thoughts or insights you would be willing to share. Thanks so much, and I look forward to your reply.

Q: Hi Peter…May I have your thoughts on the McEwen announcement? I can’t figure out who is buying whom. It looks like GOT is taking a position in McEwen which seems distracting. Can GOT sell the $10 million worth of McEwen shares? Is this a start of a merger? Any thoughts you have would be appreciated.
Jim
