Q: I do not have any exposure to gold. Should I? If yes, can you recommend a stock.

Q: I am trying to look up the ETF iau.us in your research section and nothing is coming up? Is it because only individual stocks are covered?

Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
Please give me your current evaluation of PAA. How is there balance sheet, management and assets? They are at a multi year low and this quarter may depress it further.Do you think we are close to a bottom? Any hope for silver recovering in the next year or two? Will PAA be a sector survivor?
Thanks for your insights as always!
P.S. You were great on BNN the other day!

Q: Hi Peter and Gang,
I am currently down by about 28% on my BTO holding, I'm debating if I should bite the bullet and sell my holding or hang on to it. Would appreciate your thoughts on this. Also would you also comment on BTO ability to survive a prolonged slump in gold prices in the $1,700 to $1,800 range.

Regards,
H.S.

Q: Peter and Team:
A follow up to my question a couple of days ago:

For gold company ETF's do you have a preference between XGD and ZGD, or other suggestions?
Also thoughts on KDX and ELD for sector exposure. I already hold G.
Long time frame. Total exposure 3 to 5 % of a balanced portfolio.
(deduct 2 if you see fit)
Thank you for all you do!!

Q: Newmarket had a 28% jump in their share price last week. Apparently it has reduced it's costs and had the best quarterly result ever plus it discover 3 new mines so far this year.
I would like your opinion as to their future potential and if it is worth considering it as a buy? Thanks.

Q: Peter & Team
I hold equal amounts of G, FM, and SLW in a well balanced taxable account with a 10 year plus time horizon.Down about 40 to 45% on each.

Over the long haul I am a believer in commodities, but also subscribe to your "lost opportunity" theory of not having dead money around.

What are your thought on selling two of the three and concentrating holdings into one of the companies.Which would be the "safest" (dividends etc.) over the long haul. I was leaning towards selling FM and SLW and investing proceeds in to G.

Thanks for a wonderful service!

Q: Why are costs of producing gold now in the 800$ + range compared to say early 2000s and before when gold was trading well below current level and presumaly poduction costs were significantly lower. I understand inflation but I suppose methods of extraction have also improved. You general comments would be appreciated. Thank you.

Q: I currently own a half position in TCK.B

We have seen this before in the materials sector and with Teck specifically. At what point would it not make sense to raise this to a full position? I am in for the long haul here and not a worried investor. I really don't see this company going bankrupt. When the sector turns I think it will do well. Diverse portfolio weighted more in the tech sector currently. Thoughts?

Q: My former broker stuffed my RSP with some Sprott funds which I have now sold at an aggregate loss of 55%. I am now left with some Sentry Funds to dispose of . I ask herein about one in particular : it is SENTRY SELECT PRIMARY METALS CORP CL-A SH (PME) . PME has lost 64% of its value. I don't understand how this fund makes money. It pays a good dividend -- but is that return of capital. Fees seem high.
I read your comment of Jan 27 on PME. Do you hold the same view you expressed then? Given the huge drop in PME, do you think I should just keep it OR do you have other better ideas? I surmise from this forum that you suggest most people should hold a bit of gold. I know nothing about gold and would be thankful for suggestions . I would also be OK keeping PME as is , IF , in your opinion, holding PME is optimal given the loss already sustained in PME.

Could I have your opinion on the deal between SVL and FR. I have been holding SVL for a while and am down quite a bit. Should I sell into the strength or hold on.
Thanks, Irshad.

Q: This is one company that seems to be bucking the trend in the gold miners. What is your opinion. Would you continue to hold (it is in an RSP). What do you think of it going forward. Thanks so much.
