Q: About a year ago I inherited 10,000 shares of something called Gran Columbia Gold Corp. (GCM) I never hear anything much about it and although I know it's no gem, wondered if it might be worth keeping should gold rally again? Or, should I just sell it and enjoy a McDonald's All Day Breakfast. Thanks so much for your help :-)

Q: What is your current opinion on gold in general? Are the macro factors in favor of holding gold stocks right now? Would you suggest always holding some gold stocks, selling a portion in a peak and re-buying in a trough, or trade the entire position in and out?
Currently holding Kinross and Yamana in my growth portfolio.

Q: I had a trilling ride this summer! In FR around $12,I couldn't believe how quickly it got to $25,even faster on the way down to $10! I'm still committed to the Precious Metals sector as the world seems exceptionally strange right now...
My question is; A lot of investors 'bought' at much higher levels will there be a lot of overhead resistance as it tries to climb higher? Would it make sense to sell and buy another Silver Co. that will not have as much selling pressure as investors try to break even? (I'm assuming that Silver/Gold may take some time to go higher, if silver is trading at $22 in 3 months then I would think it doesn't really matter)
Thanks for your service!

Q: In the last couple of weeks, I've taken a proper drubbing on Kirkland Lake Gold (have lost 30% in that time) ever since they announced their merger with Newmarket. The price of gold isn't helping of course, but this depreciation seems to be more of a direct impact of the merger.

I'm just wondering if I should throw in the towel on this one, or if the merger will revive it? (I'm honestly confused as to what would be the better part of wisdom here.)

Is there a likelihood that this will survive and thrive -- or is this all a big gamble in the hope that the merger will make the new iteration a company which is "bigger than the sum of its parts".

I don't want to waste opportunity here waiting for something which has no great intrinsic value.

In all honesty, I had purchased NewMarket & Kirkland as only traders, hoping for a nice healthy increase and then get out to re-deploy pprofits elsewhere --and it was working -- until this new merger was announced. (My long term hold in the gold sector is AEM). So ... any suggestions?

Is a bounce likely to come before the end of the year?

Anything that you can tell me about this position will greatly enhance my ability to make a decision. Thank you, as ever.

I marked this private only because I thought the rest of the membership might be bored with more NMI talk, but if you feel it would be of value to others, feel free to publish.

Q: Fission Uranium, FCU and Nexgen Energy, NXE. What do you think of these two companies? Do you think they are reasonable buys in the uranium space at this time? Can you comment on their respective cash positions, and how long it should last. Also, as I understand you were in the resource space in the past, which one sees to have the "better" deposit at this time. Thanks for your help.

Q: Hi 5i
I don't see any questions about K92 mining, but I have seen it listed a lot in the Globe and Mail as one of the largest daily traders, sometimes the largest loser and sometimes as the largest winner. It just started producing gold. Is there something good here?
Thank you!

Q: You have often mentioned that you like to hold some gold in a portfolio as "insurance" but I am wondering how this strategy differs from that of holding a well-constructed portfolio. To me, insurance is something that pays out cash when things go bad. I understand that gold can be that asset that increases in value when things go really "bad" but is the suggestion that you would then sell the gold at that point? If you don't sell then, isn't the value of gold likely go down once things recover and other than a portfolio that stays even on paper, at the end of the cycle you really haven't created any new wealth. My concern with gold and gold mining companies is that these assets don't seem to create long-term wealth and would, therefore, be more appropriate for a person with a trading strategy than an investing strategy.

Thank you and appreciate your insight.
