Q: Just some info re Shane’s asking why prl jumped. When discussing gsy top pick on bnn guest said the only financial exposure needed in Canada was gsy and prl. Given small cap status this side comment might have driven some buying hence a gap up.
Q: I have been reading questions on PRL as well as the company report. After reading the company profile I don't really understand the business . Though I did glean they lend money . Please explain why I would prefer to use them over my bank ?
Reading from their website Creditfresh partners with banks to provide loans. Banks lend money . What does PRL bring to the table that the bank doesn't offer ? Why would a bank want to partner with them ? Moneykey provides unsecured loans and lines of credit. So does a bank .... What does PRL do to make a better experience ? The same question for Fora which appears to be the same as Moneykey only centred in Canada ?
What I am trying to understand is the business model and why a consumer would use them over a conventional financial institution ..... I've never heard of this business nor have I ever seen them advertise.... Banks do a lot of advertising in an attempt to take business away from each other ..... So I can't figure out how Joe Sixpack would know of their existence and why he might take his credit needs to them ?
Thanks in advance for your always sound advice ..... Garth

Q: I have held Visa for many years and made some good capital gains. But the rules have been changing and companies allowing customers to pay by credit card are now allowed to charge those customers an extra 2-3% fee if they want to pay by credit card, in order to offset the fees charged to them by V and MA. Increasingly I am seeing restaurants, retailers and others tell me they will add 2-3% to my bill if I want to pay by credit card. I am seeing this more and more often when I make a purchase and it is causing me to prefer cash to credit, especially when the dollar amount of the purchase is quite substantial and the extra fee, accordingly, is also substantial. Even when the businesses I am dealing with are not charging me this extra amount, I am more inclined than I used to be to pay by cash if the retailer is a small business, just to help them reduce costs.
So my question is how much should I worry that this effect will snowball gradually over the next few years, with a negative effect on V and MA? Both stocks seemed to have plateaued recently. Is it time to replace my V with another stock and if so, what would you recommend as a suitable replacement?

Q: Hi Team,
What's happening with PRL today? I looked this morning it was up 0.5% and now its flying up 13.6%. I don't see any news. I only recently have initiated a half position in this name and was planning on adding on a dip...but maybe a dip wont be in the cards. Is it worth chasing here or should I wait to add to it?
Also...what is giving this name such a higher value when compared to GSY? GSY from what I see is growing almost as fast, even though it's a larger company with longer track record. GSY also seems to be reaching scale as their loan book growth is now growing exponentially the last year or 2. GSY just seems so undervalued all the time it's hard to understand what more investors can want here with the name.
Thanks,
Shane.

Q: I have enjoyed the ride with KNSL but it seems to have taken big hit in the past week. Can you comment on what, if anything has transpired to trigger the sell off as well as whether it's a buying opportunity, a hold or if something has changed that might make it a sell? Please explain the rational behind your view. Thanks!!
Q: JPM share price has outperformed BAC by a wide margin over the past 5 years. And especially over the past two years. Do you know what would account for the divergence?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: Which of the two companies would you prefer investing in at this time?
Thanks

Q: CashMoney, LendDirect parent company has filed for creditor protection. What is your interpretation of how this will impact Go Easy? Is it positive and why, or is it a watch out that problems exist in GSY which has been trading lower the last month? Thanks again - John C
Q: Dear 5i team.
May I have your analysis of Canadian Banc Corp? What is there structure, how are they achieving 16% returns, and what is the risk/reward.
Many thanks for your help.

Q: In Chris's recent webinar he mentioned the similarities between TCS and DSG as well as the same between GSY and TCS.
Now my question here is if I was only to own one of each of the two which ones have the best opportunities for growth going forward and which meets Warren Buffets criteria most closely?
Thanks
Sheldon

Q: Am considering taking a position in one of these companies that I believe are in similar type businesses. How would you rank them and why? And would you be a buyer now or prefer to wait based on recent earnings and current stock momentum?
Q: Can you provide a current view on Ameriprise Financial?
Q: Hi 5i, the last question on Definity, back in Feb, asked about the possibility of DFY being acquired. Since then Swiss Re has taken an almost 10% position. What are your views on this stock going forward. Thx.
Q: Good Evening,
I bought some shares of CM a couple months ago as part of a buy and hold strategy to receive the dividends (expecting the stock price to trade flat or decline) and was surprised to find the stock up 25%. Do you think I should realize the capital gain, hold hoping for a bigger capital gain down the road (couple months maybe) or maintain my original strategy of holding for the dividends? If the recommendation is to sell do you have any recommendations of safe dividend paying stocks to put the money into?
Thank you very much.

Q: Hello Team,
The Canadian banking sector has been fairly muted for a while now, notwithstanding higher rates which have been beneficial in boosting interest income. And, soon, rates are expected to decrease. Is that going to hurt their earnings or help due to an overall smaller delinquency in loan repayments? If it will help, from a choice of buying and holding some of the smaller Canadian on-line only banks or the traditional ones, say for the next five years, which would you recommend?

Q: I believe the recent weakness in GSY may also be partly the result of Stephen Smith merging Home Bank and Fairstone to create a stronger competitor to GSY, plus all the noise about Propel.
