Q: Any reasoning for insurance and banks selling off .... Is it the lack of higher interest rates in the near term .. And is this a buying opportunity ... BNS and SLF ........ Thx

Q: Further to the question from Terrance this morning, TD is not overbought according to RSI today. It is currently at about 61, really, a pretty good score. This number changes daily and, like any of the other momentum indicators, should not be considered a buy or sell signal in isolation.
I agree with 5i, technical analysis is another tool along with fundamental analysis. But, don't buy anything unless the fundamentals are favourable (that's why I subscrible to i5 Research). And, don't worry about the technicals unless you understand the whole picture.

Q: I have 30K in BNS and 18K in ZEB.Ijust added SLF 19K.My question is would it be better to sell ZEB and start buying other banks starting with TD and RY or buy XFN ,lower fees, more exposure or just stay withy ZEB.I am leaning towards replicating ZEB as you have mentioned before but wanted a second opinion. Thanks for all your wonderful advice.
Q: Would loading up a TFSA with equally with 3 Cdn banks be a reasonable start for a 29 year old beginning investor? In the stupid question category: what does P & L stand for in the model portfolios? My racked brain has come up with only incomprehensible answers. Thank you.
Q: Good Morning,
An observation on Gluskin Sheff (GS). The stock is up almost 10% in less than a week, as far as I can discern on no news. Are there takeover rumours circulating?

Q: I own Manulife (MFC) at an ACB of $17.86 in a registered account as part of a balanced portfolio. Would you sell it and buy Sunlife (SLF)?
Q: Hello Peter! I have 30K in my TFSA and I want to invest them in one or two of Canadian Banks or in bank ETFs.Please provide me with 2 good banks and 2 good ETFs names. In your opinion what is better choice for long time, single bank or bank ETF? Thanks.
Q: Hello Peter
I have brokerage accounts at two large full-service brokerages [Scotia McLeod, and National Bank Financial] and one at TD Waterhouse. I use the TD Waterhouse one with the low commissions for smaller positions and for ones I may expect to trade.
To simplify things I am considering consolidating the two full-service ones into one account, however I worry that then I may have too much riding on the solvency of a single bank, and in view of possible troubles and the possibility of "bail-ins" as happened in Cyprus and in several other European countries, maybe I am better spreading the risk.
I understand that the Government of Canada has already passed into law the regulations for the bail-in of an insolvent bank whereby the depositors are the losers. What do you think?
Thankyou........ Paul

Q: CXS has been dropping fairly steady the past three months. Could I have your opinion on it, please. Thank you for the great service you provide.
Q: I am overweight with BNS in my rrsp account . I am prepared to sell
500 shares at $67.00 Is there any advantage in trying to do a covered call while i wait for the share to reach $67.00 and if so is there a risk I might have to
settle on a price below $67. I have never used an option in the past and want to know if it might be feasible in this instance .
Also I really liked the video did on the most popular 5 questions . It was very well done , relevant , clear , and brief . Hope more will follow ., When will the revised model portfolio be released . Thanks Rick

Q: Hi Peter and Team,
Just wondering if you could comment on the recent decline in Bank of Internet (BOFI) stock. I am currently slightly below my break even point. It is close to a RSI of 30. Would this be a good time to sell or buy?

Q: We have full positions in the 5 major Cdn banks and a 1/2 posn in PWF. We have smaller posns in 3 utes, BEP, EMA and NPI. We rely on dividends for income so I'm considering dropping PWF for CPX, for better dividend and stability. Comment?
Q: I know you do not cover us stocks , however your opinion is valued.
I own GNW 5% of my portfolio, which has done fairly well over the last couple years. Where do you see GNW in the next 4 years. Is it worth holding or take profits and move on .
Thanks for your exceptional service.
