Q: What are your thoughts on FC : TSX?
Q: I own some shares in GWO and have noticed some strength in the stock price over the last month or so. During this period there has also been some downward pressure on interest rates which is generally not helpful to the stock price of the lifecos. Can you provide any insight into this situation?
Q: Hello Peter and the 5i team
I was watching BNN the other day and a question came across concerning Canacord Genuity. The guest (Jason Donneville) on the show said that they had shorted Canacord because the ratio between the P/B and ROE was far from the usual 1 to 8 ratio ( I am sure there were more reason then just the one but the other reasons were not mentioned). For example If the ROE is 16 the P/B should be approximately 2.0. This is a correlation that I had never heard before or took into consideration. Is this a metric that you use? Is this metric widely used in the stock trading world? Is this metric used more in specific sectors of the market? What do you consider the most significant metrics to judge weather a stock is a buy or not.
Thanks I appreciate your insight.

Q: I am developing my portfolio to be an income generator and like many Canadians, have a significant portion of my capital in Canadian banks. What do you feel is a suitable % range for Canadian banks in an income portfolio? I am certain I am too heavily invested today in the banks but the recent drop was too inviting so more had to be bought. Thanks in advance.
Q: Hello 5I Team
I see that Mike Newman noted that 50% of MFC's revenue came from the U.S. and Asia. I believe that MFC have made quite a focus on the wealth management business in the U.S. Such things should be fairly positive for MFC should they not, considering the weak loonie.
Thank You
Clarence

Q: just wondering if you have put a call out to those guys yet as promised?
Q: Peter; Re GS earnings today- was it a big miss or expected by the street? Could you comment please. Thanks.Rod
Q: I see that CF is handling the IT financing. Given IT is trading over 10% above the $15 bot deal price, CF should enjoy a nice win. My question is whether that win is enough to move the needle for their Q4 earnings. Is the stock a buy given today's weakness?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Q: The charts of REITS (e.g., XRE) and MICS (mortgage investment corporations), for example Firm Capital FC, roughly parallel each other over the years. But in the last few weeks they've gone in opposite directions. FC is way down, and XRE is way up. Other MICS are similarly down. Can you see any reason for the divergence? Could it be a buying opportunity for a stock like FC, if this divergence tends to correct itself somewhat? Thank you.
Q: The stock is down significantly and there is now an announcement of a major corporate shakeup. Was the reorg done in the natural course of business or a recognition that things are off the rails? Are the moves, in your opinion, and their stated strategy good for the company or a sign of confusion?
Thanks.
Paul F.

Q: how closely tied to the oil & gas sector is Aston Hill Financial Inc.
Q: CXI(TSX) is deemed a foreign investment, as it is domiciled in the US. I guess I should have noticed that before I bought it. Would that affect which account one should buy it in( registered or not), with respect to US withholding tax etc.? Also useful to note this for the 100K foreign reporting requirements.
Q: For James, I too received the TD dividend (and a CXR one) in my WebBroker account showing "Trade date" Feb. 2 & "Settlement date" Jan.31. Because the payment date of Jan. 31 was a non banking day, a Saturday, the next banking day, Monday is the actual credit day to appear in the account. I know banks love to nickel and dime us but had James written a cheque for the 31st on the strength of the dividend being deposited and the bank bounced it because it only showed in the account on the 2nd I believe he would have a legitimate beef. Anyway, any profit made by banks in this fashion will eventually be returned to the shareholders, us, via dividends.
Q: Peter; I own GS and am thinking of adding FSZ. Does it make any sense tha FSZ, aka National Bank, would acquire GS? Thanks. Rod
Q: Good Day, Curious as to your current view of FSZ. I have held it for awhile based on your recomendation. Is it still a hold? What other names would you suggest for long term growth/income? Thanks
Q: Good afternoon. Is there a reason why CXI'S stock price is stagnate?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: As of tonight, February 2, 2015, TD still has not paid its dividend which was promised to its shareholders for January 31st. I wonder if any TD Waterhouse members received their dividends on time? I wonder what TD would charge me if I was late paying them for a loan of $50.00 (roughly the cost of one share)? I wonder if my service provider will record the dividend as being received on Feb when the dividend finally arrives or will it back dated to Jan 31?
Q: Dear Agent. Is Hatteras (HTS) a stock worth holding on to in one's portfolio. Eddie.
Q: With the latest lowering of prime and possibility of further decreases and the economy as a whole, would you hold or sell present holdings in this stock? Any suggestions for dividend stock that will hold up and have some growth? Thanks. Ken
