Q: I am puzzled about the fact that some mortgage lenders offer as low as 1.9 to 2.1% mortgage rates. Why would someone lend money as such a low rate, when you can get more (and garanteed) investing it with a CDIC backed GIC. If the amount is huge and not covered by a set of CDIC accounts, such a lender could get the same yield from a short-term bond ETF like ZCS. My theory is that those lenders hope that a small percentage of their borrowers fail to carry the mortgage, in which case, they somehow profit from re-possessing a house that has appreciated in price. If that is not something a lender can do, what am I missing? Thank you.

Q: Good day, I understand (from your responses to other questions) that you like EFN, and, looking back a few months ago, it was that you held in your model portfolio (and switched out of it just before it dropped somewhat significantly), my question is this, at what price will you find it compelling value to add back into your portfolio? Thanks.
Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
GMP Capital hit a new annual low today on tremendous volume. I guess it is heavily correlated to the price of oil? If so can I expect it to fall further if oil does? I hate selling at the bottom...maybe on a green bounce...no harm or great risk in holding for awhile? Please give your current opinion.

Q: I own BNS and was just thinking about the rate increases mentioned from the bank of Canada, if rates rise the dollar should also strengthen, and if the dollar strengthens will it not affect earnings at BNS, they do a lot of business outside of Canada. Would it be wise to switch BNS for TD, as most of TD's operations are Canadian and USA focused?
Q: Technically this stock is very broken. Just how bad is the debt load? Are they bleeding assets? Is a share consolidation the next step? Do you feel there is a floor value that another investment firm would buy them out making this a speculative buy?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Q: Rising rates are good for the banks, at least in the US. So how come when the Bank of Canada deputy governor muses about Canada having to hike rates sooner than expected all the Canadian banks drop?
Q: Is it time to rethink the long american bank play? My Citi is fine but BAC seems to languish and there is talk of the rest of the year being one and done rate wise.
I also have CM that I am thinking of cashing in.
