Q: Hello 5i team,
Instead of collapsing EFN into ECN as per your note,I was thinking of keeping both but on an equal weight basis. Your comments are most appreciated.
I usually follow your suggestions, except once when you exited FSV in March 2015, post split; I kept both and had an average return of 90%.
Keep up the excellent work because I count on it. I'm 74 years old and when my brain power will eventually slow down like my creaky bones, I will have no choice but to "blindly" follow your advice.
Kind regards,
Antoine

Q: Hi Peter and Team, In the Financial sector of our combined accounts, we hold only one stock that's down - CXI - held in my TFSA - which is down by 21%. We also hold BMO, BNS, GSY, SLF, and ZBK, which are all nicely in the black. I know you believe that CXI has long-term potential, but since it doesn't pay a dividend while 'waiting', I'm considering selling it. Which of our other holdings in this sector would you recommend adding the proceeds of a possible sale of CXI? As always, thanks in advance for your insight and advice.
Q: on Dec 29 IGM acquired 13.9% on China Asset Management .
Is this deal big enough to diversify IGM's asset base
and add meaningfully to earnings.? I thought it looked
like a great deal but there has been little comment
in the press . Is the stock cheap ?
Thank you
Ian

Q: TD announced earnings today. Seemed ok to me but markets obviously disagree. Comments please.
thanks
thanks
Q: Good Morning 5i, what do you think about the results from CWB ? Would you add, hold or swap out ? Thank you, Paul
- Alaris Equity Partners Income Trust (AD.UN)
- iShares Canadian Financial Monthly Income ETF (FIE)
- First National Financial Corporation (FN)
Q: I am hunting for reliable dividend payers - companies likely to be around for the next 20years( highly safe - if not guaranteed safe) for the financial sector of an income portfolio.
These 4 have comparable yields. All are around 6%. I know there are issues with Alaris - so would not likely buy it unless you consider it buyable now.
But how about the others: would you recommend all - 1 - none?
Any guidance would be appreciated.

- Toronto-Dominion Bank (The) (TD)
- Bank of Nova Scotia (The) (BNS)
- BMO Equal Weight US Banks Index ETF (ZBK)
Q: TD represents 6% BNS 4% and CM 2% of my portfolio with no other banks.
I am considering switching BNS and CM to RY or should I go with ZBK for direct exposure to the US. Objective is growth. Should i increase my financial exposure? Add insurance Co or stick with banks?

Q: Just saw Eddie's question about HSBC's dividend. Out of curiosity I got a quote on the TMX website, and it gives a dividend of 1.05 USD per quarter, with a yield of 10.4% ! Do you have any thoughts on this bank? Thanks!
Q: Can you confirm the dividend yield for me on HSBC . Am I reading correctly that it is roughly 8% ?
Q: I have done well on EBIX getting in around $20, I know you follow the company and its been having a good day today. Do you think valuations are getting stretched here and its time to sell? Its still less than 5% weighting in my portfolio.
Q: Last year CM agreed to buy Private Bancorp in the US at a price which is now about 20% less than the current market price of the PB. It appears highly unlikely PB's shareholders would vote to approve the deal. Of course CM could raise their offer. Today's GAM article discusses this deal and a confusing ( to me ) comment about CM having an option to buy 2% of its stock should the deal fail and therefore supporting CM's stock price. I would appreciate your thoughts on this deal as I am currently considering selling the stock at today's levels given the uncertainty about where this stock is going.
Q: Is the pullback we are seeing today a good buying opportunity? Do you see further weakness to come at least shorter term
Q: Could you please comment on Apollo Global Management in US and their outlook for next two three years.
Thanks,
Milan
Thanks,
Milan
Q: What do you think and recommend about Caldus CBL T Thanks
Q: Do you have any thoughts on the recent rapid price appreciation on EQB following its results last week? Results seemed pretty good in my opinion but not super spectacular and the stock is up over 20% in the last two trading days.
Q: How does the news alter the outlook? Why did they do this now?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: What are your thoughts on todays announced sale and prospects going forward. I suspect they must have something else fairly major lined up to buy. Todays sale was actually worth more than the market cap (at least what shows on the tsx site, without options etc).
thanks Tom
thanks Tom

Q: i currently only hold bns for financials. It has been very good over the last year. I'm thinking about adding slf (to hedge against potential interest rate hikes) and fsz for some extra upswing potential to balance against the security of bns. I'm 31 years old, they're all held in my tfsa, I'm thinking long term and am ok with risk. Do you have issues with either of these two? Is there others you'd prefer to accomplish what I'm looking for? Do you think rate increases will push bns down enough to make it cheaper to add to or is trying to get the timing right with that not worth waiting for?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Q: Can you recommend 3 good names in the financial sector (any sub-sector) that are a good value? Banks seem to have had a bit of a run with the rising interest rate and deregulation talk and they seem a bit pricey. Would you wait for a pull back or is the run up justified and sustainable? Anything else look good today?
Thanks
