Q: Withthe rumours of a short attack being false, is this a good time to buy and hopefully recoup some of my loss on efn?

Q: On the news "Element issues US$1.2 billion of rated ABS term notes through Chesapeake" the stock has dropped 38% (and halted)
CIBC just reiterated their $15 target price and said it is a buy and deal is good.
Would retail investors be selling out here? Am looking at buying here - dividend is now coming close to 5%
Also can you explain the use of the ABS term notes for the fleet management business. Thank You.

Q: Question related to the new preferred share offering: ECN.PR.C which yields at the very minimum 6.25%.
Deal was sold out and as soon as it started trading the share price dropped below the $25 issue price and is now below $24.
Why would anyone buy the issue at $25 and sell it right after. Any ideas?
Also, would you recommend adding to it below $24. I have 700 shares which represents around 1.2% of my portfolio.
Thank You.

Q: Can you explain how this can drop in half in less than a month? Thanks.
Q: Are we seeing yet another short attack here?
Looks like they had a very positive announcement with the ABS notes just yesterday and now the stock is getting decimated. Why do these short attacks keep happening in Canada is there anything we can do about it. HCG, CRH, BAD, I'm sure there are others that I can't recall. Its getting tough to be a Canadian small/midcap investor.

Q: What is causing the big selloff in ECN today?
Q: Greetings, Peter & Co.
I have held CXI, at a considerable loss, for 7 months. However, the company appears to be in good position to grow over time. I like to hold stocks for 3 or more years. May I have your thoughts on the company over the next 3 +/- years?
With appreciation.
Ed

Q: I'm down on EFN about 19% - buy more or bail as it's down again today with no news that I can see. I've read your other comments and do not need the cash right now.
Q: Hi Peter , wonder if you could tell me why the banks are down from their highs in Mar. while the earnings are good, and what would be the catalyst to get them back to that level. Thanks, Nick
Q: Today's Globe has an article about the value of Laurentian Bank and Canadian Western Bank following their share price reduction in the wake of the Home Capital debacle. Would you view either as a long term hold and which would you prefer?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: i have a bit of a high allocation to banks and i was thinking of trimming Bns. I am also doing this because i have some fear of a housing bust and the proximity of the banks to such an event. And also because there may be a good chance that capital gains tax will be increased next year. I will re invest this money and my question has to do with what sector do you think would be the safest if a housing crash should result. For instance i had thought of buying Canadian Tire. But, i imagine a drop in the housing market will have a big affect on their sales as well. Appreciate your thoughts as usual
Q: Which of these two has better growth prospects in the near and long term? I need to raise some cash and have to sell one of them.
Thank you
Thank you
Q: Many analysts on BNN are recommending owning US banks vs Canadian, as dividend growth looks better for the US banks.. Would the benefit of owning a US bank be worth sacrificing the dividend tax break Canadians currently get,and the currency conversion to US dollars. Thank you
Q: Would you buy EFN today? Thanks.
Q: Hi, was just thinking of Efn as a buy? I have half a position now. Was looking over the questions and it looks like you seem to think in the long run it is a good buy.
My question is,what do you think of the mngmt, and debt,do you like the sector, and is there growth in the next 2-3 years?
Thanks, doing good since I joined 5i, Brad

Q: Given the recent earnings reports, which appear to have been very positive, do you have any insight into why TD has not rebounded?
Q: Hi, I can't decide which financial stock to choose for a half position in my portfolio . For financials I already own full positions of BNS, SLF . (And HR.UN for real estate if you think that is relevant)
Which would you choose and why? Thank you

Q: Good morning,
Global payments was highlighted as a promising fintech stock by Citigroup. What do you think of this company? Would you be a buyer? Or would you have an alternative suggestion in the space (mastercard and visa already owned)
Thank you
Karim

Q: I know US companies are not your area of expertise; however, can I please get your opinion of Gladstone Investment Corp (GAIN).

Q: Can you comment on CIBC's results - I thought they were in line with expectations - steady as she goes. However, the market has not reacted well. What am I missing.
