Q: i currently have almost $20000 in U.S. cash in my porfolio.
am looking to invest in the U.S. Banks.
would i be better off in investing in a U.S. bank etf or would i benefit more by transferring my U.S. funds to Canadian dollars and using either ZBK or ZUB??
or would you suggest a U.S. Regional bank etf?
these funds are not in a RRIF or other registered retirement account.

Q: With the latest news about CBL and the big drop in stock price, what do you suggest a shareholder do (if anything)? Can this company be trusted? They report earnings Thursday after the close but can we believe what they say? I stayed "patient" with DH, Concordia, and HCG only to add to the initial losses. Do you think they can recover from this even if it is shown that no fraud has occurred? As usual, your thoughts please.
Thank you

Q: Hello Peter.......... I have a question about 1228

Could you please comment on Gluskin Sheff about it's suitability for a 2% position in an retirement income portfolio. I have larger positions in BNS, and in CM.

Is the payout ratio reasonable and is the dividend sustainable and do they carry a lot of debt?

It doesn't seem to have done anything except drift further down since the legal settlement and you had said you expected a pop of as much as $3 or $4! Am I missing something?

Are there other Financials that you would prefer with similar dividends? How about Olympia OLY, or TF?

Thank you............. Paul K

Q: Hi Peter and Company,

I currently have a position on RY, TD and BNS and I am thinking of moving some money from Canadian banks to US banks. So of the three aforementioned banks that I currently hold, which one would you take off the table and is there a U.S. bank that you can recommend?
Cheers,
Harry

Q: Why is BNS and the other banks shares price decreasing lately? With the positive economic news and increase of interest rates, I would have thought that the bank shares would be moving higher.
With increasing interest rates and banks at attractive valuations, would it be a good time to go overweight in banks for an income investor who is attracted to the 3.7%+ yields and possible capital gains.
